Richard Filipi

Born in:
Dickinson, North Dakota
Resided in:
Fargo, North Dakota
Richard Filipi was born in Dickinson, ND on December 1, 1949, to Ludwig and Tillie (Jilek) Filipi. He passed away on March 6th, 2025, at the age of 75 years.
The family lived on a farm just northwest of Dickinson. Childhood was difficult.
One boy versus five sisters. Richard attended school at Dickinson Catholic schools and Dickinson State College. In 1969 he joined the Navy. Basic training was in San Diego. The remainder of the four years were spent in Washington DC at the Defense Nuclear Agency doing secret stuff.
After being discharged he returned to Dickinson. Most of his life was spent selling auto parts. Thirty-four years of it at Sax Motor Co. He apologizes for any wrong parts you may have received. Richard lived a simple life. No wife, no children and not a single day in prison. After retirement he moved to Fargo, ND.
Rather than spending eternity in a box, in a vault buried in a hole in the ground, Richard chose to be cremated. He believed spending eternity on the prairie was a better choice. Who knows what new life might be nurtured by those ashes.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jeanette (Jan) Renken, and nephews Todd Davis and Anthony Luptak, many Aunts, Uncles and relatives.
He is survived by his sisters Joan Longshore, Galena Ohio, Geralyn (Curtis) Kauffman, Peyton CO, Gaylene Montez, Quemado, NM, and Pamela (Dan) Peterson, Horace ND.
