  1. healdsburg caWe all knew him as “Gompf”. He was our beloved crafts teacher at Miramonte High. He was full of life, fun and love. For many of us he was the highlight of our day and his classroom a refuge. You were a fun one. Great memory of you taking a bunch of us salmon fishing on the Bay after school got out and then we made a delicious meal at your house. What a great man!

  2. Orinda CAThanks for the wonderful memories. You were my favorite teacher at Miramonte. Of all the stories from school your class is mentioned more often than any other.
Thanks for the Soapstone carving. You will be missed by all who knew you.

  3. You were a great man Mr. Gompf….. The best teacher that I ever came across. So many good memories from your class and the wonderful field trips that we’d take. I learned so much from you- soapstone carving, sand casting(jewelry making), spinning pottery and making lovely bird feeders that you would never grade… Your booming smile and contagious laugh will be missed……

  4. Mesa AZ
Dick will live on in our memories. A favorite one was to go down to Fisherman’s Warf and buy a Dungeness Crab, a loaf of Sourdough Bread, find a spot with a view and enjoy the meal. Remember his gold silverware? You were really special if you got to eat with it. we could go on and on. Dick was a unique person and we shall miss him.

  5. Fargo ND
`Richard, we’ll all miss you here at Park Place and especially on 4th floor…You were a great addition to our “condo family”..Rest in Peace and God Bless your memory..
