Richard Gutknecht, 83, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on January 8, 2021 under the care of Sanford Hospice. Richard Clinton Gutknecht was born to Nettie and Irvin Gutknecht on November 19, 1937 in Hurdsfield, ND. He married Evelyn Pedersen on May 29, 1965 in Fargo, ND. They had three daughters, eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Richard was always known for putting others first, his selfless mindset inspired us all. Richard’s eyes and smile always lit up the room. For Richard, spending time with his family was one of his greatest treasures. Family time to Richard meant playing cards, dice, and pontoon rides at the lake. Richard’s favorite family tradition was Christmas baking. He was a great cookie froster, but an even better cookie tester. Richard leaves behind his daughter’s Kelly (Mike) Ridder of West Fargo, ND; Stacy (Rick) Cossette of Fargo, ND; and Kari (Dayne) Bedford of Alexandria, MN. 8 Grandchildren, Alexander, Tyler (Emily), Ashley (Alex), Tanya (Jamie), Logan, Zachary, Darrek, Harrison, and great grandson Rowan. His sister, Carol (Bob) Pfaff of Bismarck, ND, and a brother Arnold (Kris) Gutknecht of Twin Falls, ID, as well as several brother/sister-in-laws, and nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn. A great granddaughter, Chloe. His parents Nettie and Irvin. His brother Willard, sisters Eileen, and Erna. In laws Vigo and Mary, several brother and sister-in-laws.

Uncle Dick, you were so much fun when I was little and I got married you would always call at Christmas time and say this is your favorite uncle then laugh but it was true.so many great memories.
