Richard “Rich” Schneider, 78, Fargo, ND passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Rich Schneider was born on May 11, 1944 in Breckenridge, MN to Edwin Schneider and Dorothy (Fletcher) Schneider.

Rich graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1962 and went on to earn a Trade Degree from the Wahpeton School of Science in 1970. He started his career as a Sheet Metal Fabricator and went on to work as a foreman with Robert Gibb and Sons for 30 years. Rich also served in the Army National Guard from 1965-1972. He enjoyed deer hunting, sausage making, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Strong in his faith, Rich was always willing to step up and help as a volunteer within his church community, to help a neighbor, or anyone who needed a hand. He was known for being there for others.

Rich married Mary “Patsy” Schneider on October 22, 1966 in Wahpeton, ND. Soon after, they started a family and moved to Fargo, ND. There, they bought a modest house. As time went on, Rich built a home addition to provide for his growing family. Together they had three children, Steve, Sherry and Nancy.

Rich is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Schneider, Fargo, ND; his children Steve (Molly) Schneider, their children Chloe, Noah; Sherry (James) Bahr, their children Libby, Carly; Nancy Schneider (Shane Foster) her daughter Hayley and her daughters Maliyah and Amiyah. He is also survived by sister Carol (John Hought) Osmundson , sister Bonnie (Larry) Johnson, sister Jean (Barry) Olson, sister Margaret (John) Weber, sister Wanda (Jerry) Hasbargen, sister Terry Hasbargen, Brother Nick (Shirley) Schneider, Brother Kevin (Jackie) Schneider, sister-in-law Diane (Chuck) Schneider, sister-in-law Mary (Paul) Schneider, sister-in-law Corrine (Don) Schneider, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: Parents Edwin and Dorothy Schneider, sister Mary Louise “Tootie” (Duane “Doc”) Evenson, sister Patricia (Paul) Koppelman, brothers John Schneider, Don (Corrine) Schneider, Chuck (Diane) Schneider, Paul (Mary) Schneider and Thomas Schneider, brother-in-law Jerry (Wanda) Hasbargen, brother-in-law Paul (Patricia) Koppelman, brother-in-law Duane “Doc” (Mary Louise “Tootie”) Evenson, brother-in-law Lyle (Carol) Osmundson, sister-in-law Judy (Don) Schneider, nephews Carl Schneider, Mike Evenson, John Jess Schneider, Corey Osmundson, and Dan Johnson.

Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.

  1. I’m so very sorry to the entire schneider family! Hayley and her little girls are my neighbors and when she told me yesterday about her grandma adding away I cried. I’m glad he is no longer suffering and I hope the family is going to be ok. Much love and prayers to everyone!
