Robb Walvatne left this world early Friday morning February 7,2025 after a year and half battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his mother Betty Dobervich (Paul); his father Dick Walvatne (Loree); son Nick; his girls, Skyla and Lilley; brother, Randy (Tracy); step-sister, Angie Johnson (Doug); and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Robb was born April 9, 1970. He attended Clara Barton, Agassiz, and graduated from Fargo South High.
In high school his art instructor Roger Goettsch submitted a piece of artwork featuring Lady liberty entitled ” And then she looked closer.” It garnered him first place in an US national competition along with a $300 prize. He was also proud of singing ” I left my heart in San Francisco” at various bars on karaoke night to ovations from the crowd.
A special thank you to Dr. Kabrossy, nurses at Essentia, Hospice and Saint Catherine’s for their comforting care.
Robb elected not to have a funeral.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. To sign the guestbook, please visit: www.Boulgerfuneralhome.com.
Funny to say – we also both competed for a common 5th grade crush. He won that contest too!
Saying a prayer for your family’s loss. God Bless
RIP fellow Bruin!

My sincere condolences to Robb’s family and friends. We have lost a good one.
I met Robb my freshman year of high school and got to know him as we both belonged to the same group of friends. We had years of fun, all of us. Sometimes a little too much.
Life changed and Robb and I went 25 years without seeing much of each other. We reconnected when our mutual friend moved home a few years ago. Robb and I spent many nights hanging out, grilling, having some spirits and laughing our butts off. Even into his fight with lymphoma, Robb and I would still get together and laugh, but this time we cried too. There wasn’t forever anymore.
Robb was a comedian until the end. He left us way too soon and way too fast. Nobody was ready for him to go.
The Essentia Palliative Care Unit and Hospice of the Red River Valley did an incredible job keeping Robb comfortable the last few days of his life. Dr. Rostad, who was Robb’s Palliative Care doctor, was an amazing physician who knew Robb since last December and said what a great guy Robb was, calling him a joker.
RIP my dear beloved friend and brother
Take care my Dear Friend.
