Bob, a resident of Lake Lida, near Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at River Pointe in Moorhead, MN, at the age of 81.

Robert Leroy Pochardt was born on April 28, 1943, the son of Ludwig and Eleanor (Anderson) Pochardt in Morris, MN. He grew up in this area where he received his education, graduating from Morris High School. Bob furthered his education in Moorhead where he graduated from Moorhead State University.

Bob was united in marriage to Julie Solberg on October 9, 1964, in Starbuck, MN. In 1965, they had their son, Bryan. They moved to Bismarck, ND, where they lived for a short period of time. Bob and Julie moved to Fergus Falls where they lived for 10 years, and he began his career with American Family Insurance as an adjuster. In 1977, they moved to the Minneapolis area and in 1981 settled in St. Cloud, MN, where he served as Branch Manager for American Family. He retired after 41 years of service to the Insurance Company, and they made their home on Lake Lida since that time.

During their retirement years, Bob and Julie spent several months in Arizona each winter. They enjoyed traveling, one special place was the Hawaiian Islands, where they made five trips. They loved living on the lake, socializing with others, making new friends, going on spontaneous outings, and an occasional trip to the casino. Julie passed away on July 31, 2020.

Bob is survived by his son, Bryan (Diane) Pochardt of Fargo, ND; his grandson, Weston Pochardt of Fargo; his granddaughter, Kiara (Shane) Tuchscherer of West Fargo, ND; his mother, Eleanor Pochardt of Morris; his siblings – Jack (Barb) Pochardt, Deb (Gary) Hanson, and Don (Cori) Pochardt; and many other very dear relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Julie; and his father, Ludwig “Sarge Louie” Pochardt.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10 AM Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo – with a visitation one hour prior

BURIAL: 1:30 PM Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Pelican Valley Cemetery in Pelican Rapids.

I have lots of great memories from over the years growing up… holiday, birthday & anniversary gatherings at Grandpa & Grandma’s house in Starbuck, high school graduation parties, to the house on Lake Lida a few times, and once at the casino. Good times!
