Robert “Bob” Urlaub, 86, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, surrounded by his family.

Robert George Urlaub was born on April 1, 1939, in Walhalla, North Dakota, to Henry and Anna Urlaub. He was raised in Walhalla and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1958. Bob proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1960 to 1963 and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. On November 21, 1964, he married Mae Brodeur. Together, they raised five children and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Bob and Mae lived near Walhalla, where they farmed and raised hogs while raising their family until 1986, when they relocated to Prescott Valley, Arizona. After 18 years, they returned to North Dakota and made their home in Fargo and West Fargo.

Bob was never shy of hard work. In addition to farming and raising pigs, he also spent many years doing road construction while he was in North Dakota and Arizona. He always did everything he could to provide for his family, no matter how hard it was.

Bob was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, giving of his time to better his church and community. His favorite hobbies, besides hanging out with his family, were hunting, fishing and watching over his garden. In addition, he loved attending and following the sporting events of his grandchildren. Bob loved good times with those closest to him and enjoyed seeing not only his five kids grow up, but also his 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mae; children, Cindy Minette of Snohomish, WA; Brad Urlaub of Fargo; Christy Carrier of West Fargo; Gerald (Cindy) Urlaub of West Fargo; Lisa (Jon) Ohleen of West Fargo; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Minette of Snohomish, WA; Allie (Brandon) Pearson of Snohomish, WA; Colleen Urlaub of West Fargo; Ashley Urlaub of Erdman, MN; Carli Carrier of Princeton, MN; Sasha Carrier of Fargo; Madison (Noah) Schaeffer of Fort Ransom, ND; Alex Urlaub of West Fargo; Carter Ohleen of West Fargo; Austin Ohleen of West Fargo; Jaxson Ohleen of West Fargo; great-grandchildren, Reece Minette, Drew Minette, Skylar Pearson, Logan Schaeffer; brother Leo (Mary Lou) Urlaub of Walhalla, ND; sister, Anna Greenwood of Pueblo West, CO.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Urlaub; brother Edwin Urlaub and twin brother Donny Urlaub; sisters, Theresa Hell and Ethel Kukuk; daughter-in-law, Christel Urlaub.

  1. From the time I met him, he always had a playful personality. Every comment was humorous and he made you feel welcome . He was just the nicest guy . I enjoyed sitting in his den with him eating butterscotch candies . He raised a family that is the closest most supportive to each other family I have ever seen. I would have loved to spend more time with him . I know the family and everyone who knew him will miss him and I am keeping you all in my prayers 🙏
