Robert Hinz

Robert Hinz of Dent, MN passed to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at the age of 86.

Robert (Bob) was born on April 9, 1938, in Burke Township located in Pipestone County, MN. Bob was the son of Adolph & Gladys (Goodmonson) Hinz. Bob lived and worked on the family farm along with his brother Darrel. Bob was drafted into the Army on November 13, 1961, where he served as a marine oiler on ore boats until being honorably discharged on November 12, 1963.

He met and married Marjorie Bergquist (Rasmussen) in Pipestone, MN in 1964. They had one son together, Todd Hinz. Marge had two children at the time, Laural Bergquist and Gerald Bergquist. After Robert and Marjorie separated he met his wife of 29 years, Shirley McKenzie who had two children, Hank and Sandra (Clifton) McKenzie. Robert worked in property management until retirement in 1989 when they moved to their lake home in Dent, MN. Robert and Shirley worked together at flea markets after retirement in both Texas & Minnesota and became snowbirds in 1992.

Robert is survived by his son, Todd (Janet) Hinz; stepchildren, Hank & Sandra (Clifton) McKenzie, Laural (Dezeeuw) & Gerald Bergquist; grandchildren Heather, Sara, JC, Justin, Joe, Jami, Tim, and Troy; and many great-grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Adolph & Gladys; and brother, Darrel who is survived by his wife Linda & their children Paige, Lane, and Renee. Robert will be dearly missed by this family and friends in both Minnesota and Texas.
