Robert J. Carney

February 21, 1942 ~ February 26, 2025
Bob and Barb met on March 25, 1970 and married June 24, 1972. 55 years with many great adventures hunting, fishing, camping, road trips, playing ball and shuffleboard.
Bob worked at Honeywell for 40 years and was referred to as “Carney”. Many coworkers didn’t know his name was Bob until it was on his retirement cake. In 2001 we moved to the wonderful town of Vergas Minnesota. We met a lot of new friends, fishermen and hunters. We quickly learned that the opening of deer hunting is a national holiday in Vergas. We knew then this was where we belonged.
Bob was a Golden gloves boxer, played softball, fast pitch & broom ball. Bob loved to hunt and fish. He had a serious case of “Muskie Fever”. We made 7 trips to Alaska and loved fishing Halibut and salmon. Bob was well known for smoking fish, ribs and grilling turkey. In 2009 we hauled our 5th wheel camper to Apache AZ. Here he learned that he was “old enough” to play shuffleboard! As a result, we became AZ snowbirds and enjoyed 15 years at the Lost Dutchman RV park. He earned several trophies and really enjoyed the game. Bob won Two Lost Dutchman trophies. This is one of the most prestigious trophies in the valley. He won in the District 4 Singles and went to the State competition in Tucson and claimed another trophy. His Eagles League team also went to State and claimed another trophy in Yuma.
Bob, you were a great husband, father, brother and friend. You shared your hunting and fishing knowledge with many people. You are loved and missed. With all my Love. Till we meet again.
Preceded in death by father, Merlyn G Carney; mother, Emma Jo Carney; and brother, James G Carney.

We met Bob in Apache Junction, Az through our mutual love of Shuffleboard! He was an excellent player and it was always a joy to meet him at the courts! He always had a smile on his face and he was always happy to have a conversation with you! You will be missed!
RIP Bob.

Bob and Barb quickly became dear friends when they joined us in Alaska. We treasured the times we shared together. Bob’s infectious laugh, warm smile, and unwavering willingness to help out will always be remembered. His friendship was a true blessing, and his memory will forever be cherished.
