Roger W. Butler of Detroit Lakes, MN and Scottsdale, AZ died on Sunday, May 28th, 2017. He was born on January 28, 1933 in Grand Forks, ND to Edward W. & Gwenyth G Butler, the second of four sons. He graduated from Bemidji, MN high school and the University of Minnesota. After college he spent five years on Capital Hill in Washington, DC and the most of the next 37+ years in Phoenix, AZ. He retired in 1989 at age 55 and spent the better part of the next four years in Acapulco, Mexico. In 2001, at his 50th high school reunion, a chance encounter, with his old school sweetheart (and love of his life) Bonnie Dee (Morton) Gearou, led to their marriage about a year later. He is survived by wife Bonnie, his brother Bruce (Marilyn) of Vermont, many nieces and nephews. Four step daughters, Cher (Ron) Torgerson, Yogina Barbara Joy (Tony Callihoo), Diane (Richard) Svaleson and Linda (Bob) Barclay, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jerry, Dan and sister-in-law Penny Butler.
