Roger Charles Lee Sr., a beloved husband, dedicated father, and respected member of his community, passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 85. Born on August 21, 1938, in North Dakota to Marcus and Olga (Jordheim) Lee, Roger’s journey in life was marked by sincerity, resilience, and a commitment to his family.

Growing up in the rural town of Kindred, North Dakota, Roger’s humble beginnings laid the foundation for his unwavering work ethic and strong sense of family. After completing 8th grade, he wholeheartedly embraced the call of duty, enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 17. Serving from 1956 to 1957, Roger proudly represented his country and showcased his mechanical skills as a tank and truck mechanic while stationed in Italy, Germany, and stateside bases in Missouri and Texas. He reached the rank of E5 as a sharpshooter and expert rifleman. He then went on for 2 years in the Army Reserves and an additional 7 in the National Guard.

Upon his honorable discharge from the army, Roger returned home to his beloved North Dakota. In 1960, he entered into marriage with the love of his life, Helen, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. For 32 years, their unwavering bond strengthened their family, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing them.

Roger’s unwavering dedication to his craft led him to a fulfilling career as a boiler maker in the manufacturing industry for 25 years. His expertise and precision in his work were highly regarded by his peers, earning him the respect of all who worked alongside him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roger’s true passion was his family. He was a loving and devoted father to his children, Roger Jr, Mark, Troy, and Kelly Jo with whom he shared countless memories and cherished moments. Roger’s role as a father was one of guidance, support, and unwavering love, leaving an enduring legacy within his family.

During his free time, Roger found solace in the simplicity of life. From tending to his garden and canning his harvest. Whether it was spending time out in nature or sharing stories with loved ones, he was the life of the party; always quick with a joke or entertaining with his harmonica.

Roger is survived by his son Mark Lee and daughter Kelly Jo Lee; grandchildren, Dalton Lee-Johnson, Tara Lee, Brandi (Tony) Klaus, Chassie (Derek) Peterson, Jade Lee, Travis Lee, and Colt Lee; great-grandchildren Karmen Klaus and Morgana Lee with two on the way; siblings Jerome Lee, Jerry (Geraldine) Lee, Maynord Lee, and Karen (Kenny) Kemp; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
