Roger M. Beardsley, 78, passed away November 16, 2024 at Bethany on 42nd.

Roger was born September 16, 1946 in Fargo, ND to Harold and Alice (Stenmon) Beardsley. He attended school in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1964. He enlisted in the US Army in 1966 and served until 1968. During his time in the Army he was stationed in Berlin, Germany. When he returned home, he joined the ND Air National Guard proudly serving with The Happy Hooligans until his retirement in July 2000. Over the years he worked at EPCO, Cash Registers Inc., CBI, ASP Security and TSA where he retired from in 2009 following his stroke the previous year. He later worked at Sam’s Club in Moorhead and Fargo until his workplace injury in November 2022.

Roger married Kathy Gunstenson on March 13, 1992, celebrating 30 years of marriage before Kathy’s passing in June 2022.

Roger enjoyed playing pool, hunting and fishing in his earlier years. After he and Kathy bought their home in Moorhead he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and tinkering with his flower beds that became more beautiful every year. He was also an excellent photographer and enjoyed taking many pictures throughout the years. Most recently he enjoyed meeting new friends and playing bingo at Bethany.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Kristen (Shane) Haphey and their children, Sterling (Cassidy) and Kacy; son, Jason and his children, Tara (Scott) and Megan; brother, Larry and his dog, Sara.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; son, Mark and sister, Kathy.

The family would like to thank Bethany on 42nd and University as well as Ethos Hospice for their exceptional care of Roger.

I served with Roger in the Happy Hooligans for many and he always had a smile on his face and friendly greeting whenever he came in to the training office after his retirement he very seldom missed a monthly retiree’s breakfast, it was pleasure and privilege to have served with him, Fly High, Old Friend, Fly High.

  5. Dennis Swenson cousin from Texas. Roger and I grew up together and have been talking on the phone at least once or twice a month. We did not lose Roger; we know where he went. (HEAVEN) and will see him again.

  6. I would like to share my sympathy. Roger was a friend of mine at Bethany 42nd. I enjoyed eating our meals and playing bingo together.
