Roland Barchinger

Roland Barchinger, 92, Fargo passed away on February 5, 2020 at North Dakota Veterans Home. Roland was born August 22, 1927 in Fargo to William and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Barchinger. Roland was baptized and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church with his confirmation verse: “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.” He later served as the Chairman of the board of Elders, President of Grace Congregation for 2 terms. In January 2005, he transferred his membership to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. He attended Fargo Central High as well as Dakota Business College. Roland was in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in San Diego, Santa Anna, and Barstow, CA from 1945-1946. He was marred to Dorothea Kleefeld in Wurzburg, Germany on November 8, 1955 and adopted Winnfried Kleefeld in 1956. Roland and Dorothea had one daughter: Cynthia Elizabeth Crummy. He ran a painting and wall covering business with WM Barchinger & Sons. He also owned and cared for 2 apartment buildings. He married Jeanne Kragt on September 6, 2003 in the Christian Reformed Church in Pease, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorthea, in 2000; second wife, Jeanne, in 2019; his daughter Cindy Crummy in 2002; his brothers: Carl, Bill, Ernest, and Edward; his sister: Rosalee, Leone, Helen, Lillian and Maryon; and his daughter-in-law, Marsha Barchinger. Roland is survived by his son, Winn, Desert Hot Springs, CA; son-in-law, Bruce (Lora Albrecht) Crummy, West Fargo, ND; granddaughters, Kristi (Bert) Cameron, Fargo; Allie (Tim) Flaten, West Fargo; great-granddaughters: Taylor, Kennedy and Emma Cameron; step-sons: Terry (Sharry) Kragt, Pease, MN; Randy Kragt, Salem, OR; Brian (Sharry) Kragt, Portland, OR; Mike (Julia) Kragt, Castle Rock, CO; and Harlan (Suzanne) Kragt, Eden Prairie, MN; step-daughter, Joy Baum, Lake Odessa, MI; and many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:30 A.M. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
