Ronald W. Braaten, 83, Fargo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Eventide, Moorhead, MN.

Ron was born on February 11, 1941 at Hatton, ND to Elmer and Mollie (Huus) Braaten. He grew up on a farm near Portland, ND. He graduated from Portland High School in 1960 and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. He served in the Air National Guard from 1962 to 1968.

Ron married Edie Satrom at Norman Lutheran Church in Clifford, ND on June 19, 1965. They lived in Hatton where Pederson Implement employed him. In 1966 they moved to Grand Forks, ND where he was employed by North Dakota Mill and Elevator and later by Northern State Power Company. Most of his life he drove truck for Mayville elevator, Fairway Foods (1977-2000) and also Cass Clay Creamery. He retired on June 27, 2003. He also drove school bus for the West Fargo School District starting in 2004.

Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading, biking, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Edie and his 3 children; Brenda (Ron Ingram) of Champlin, MN, Debbie (Craig Johnson) of West Fargo, ND and Rod (Nicole) Braaten of Moorhead, MN; and 7 grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene Braaten, Ardell Braaten, Reuben (Frances) Braaten, and sisters, Gladys (Ernest) Aasen, Delores Braaten.

Memorial Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:00 A.M.

Memorials preferred to the New Life Center and/or For Luv of Dogs.

Sorry to hear of Ron’s passing.I work for Senior Helpers,I had the pleasure to spend time with Ron..We went for a walk,then decided to go to Denny’s for pie..with every bite there was a smile.When I mentioned to Ron that I know his daughter Debbie smile got wider.I enjoyed spending time with Ron….Sending hugs..

Edie and family, I remember the last time I got a chance to visit with Ron and Edie, he was working on his bike in their home off of 13th Ave. Ed and I lived on Center St across the street from Ron and Edie and was great having them as neighbors. I was very saddened when my daughter-in-law asked me if I saw the FB post from Rod telling us of Ron’s passing. Ron will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family. May God hold them close and comfort them in this time of grieving.
