Ronald Macziewski

ronald macziewski

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Ron Macziewski, went to his heavenly home on May 2, 2014, while surrounded by family. He was a resident of Fargo-Moorhead since 1991.

Ron was born in Montevideo, MN on January 23, 1946 to Friebert and Petra (Gimmestad) Macziewski. He was the second born of triplet brothers. Ron grew up and attended school in the Montevideo area.

In 1965, at the age of 19, Ron enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was proud to serve our great country and earned an honorable discharge in 1971.

In 1965 Ron met his future bride in Halstad, MN.  Three years later, on August 24, 1968, he married Shirley Ann Lee. They lived in Montevideo for over 21 years, moving to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1991. This past August, they celebrated their 45th anniversary.

For most of his life, Ron worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver. The last 12 years he drove a follow truck for Tri-State Striping and Swanston Equipment.

Ron loved hanging out in his garage, organizing his tools over and over and over again. He enjoyed spending time with his four boys, particularly hunting and fishing. Ron was loved dearly by his grandkids and was often found lying on the floor playing, tickling, talking or the kids just using him as a pillow.

Ron was a loving husband, caring father and gentle grandfather. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons: Troy (Patty); Doug (Tiffany), Glyndon, MN; Lyle, Fargo, ND; and Chad (Kelly), West Fargo, ND; brothers: Robert (Julie) and Roger, Montevideo; sisters: Phyllis (Mike) Fagen, Montevideo and Julie Iverson of Benson, MN; grandchildren: Brandon, Brady, Logan, Hunter, Olivia, Kamden, Samantha, Taylor, Coen, Casey Macziewski and Cody Jochim, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Friebert and Petra Macziewski as well as his grandparents Gust and Julia Macziewski and Jonas and Pernelle Gimmestad.
