Ronald Peterson passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born November 6, 1942, to Christine and Karl Peterson on a farm near Fingal, ND. Ron attended elementary school in a one room school building and was the only first grader in his class. Ron would jokingly say that he slept through the first grade. Ron graduated high school in Nome, ND in May of 1960. Ron enlisted in the Navy in June of 1960 and served until he was honorably discharged in November of 1963. After the military, Ron started working for Collins Construction in April of 1964 and worked there until November of 1973. In December of 1973, Ron started a career working for the City of Fargo where he worked until he retired in August of 2012.

Ron married Cleo Schmidt on August 10, 1979, and had two daughters, Kami and Kara.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Cleo; daughters, Kami (Steve) and Kara (Jeremy); grandchildren, Karena (Dana), Kamron, Kyler, Taylee, and Remi; siblings, Olga (Pinke), Jean (Jerome), and Sharon (Jake); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Christine Peterson; siblings, Merlin, Clarice, Alice (Raymond), Walter (Mary), Orvis (Maxine), Helen (Bud), James (Carol), Donnie (Doris), and Marvin (Alma).

Special Thank You to Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care of Ron in his final days.

The family will be holding a private ceremony.

As Ron would love to say the famous words from one of his favorite songs… “Here’s a quarter, call someone who cares”.
