Ronald “Ron” Dennis Mootz, 80, passed away at the Fargo VA on February 3, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Ron was born on October 18, 1943 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After high school, he enlisted in the Army. He worked on generators in the Twin Cities until he was deployed to Korea as a dog handler MP at a missile base. When he returned from the Vietnam war, Ron obtained his degree in horticulture at Anoka-Ramsey Community College at the Coon Rapids Campus.
Ron met the love of his life, Cindy at a dance. They married in 1973, and moved to Fargo where they opened Professional Lawn Service and a few years later, Green Garden Nursery. Ron and Cindy were resident managers for apartment buildings for several years. Ron worked for Tucker Pointe Management doing maintenance, until he retired at 65. He worked with his son painting for a few years before fully enjoying retirement.
Ron enjoyed bowling, and played softball for the Moose Lodge until he was 50 years old.
He had fond memories of family vacations to Wisconsin Dells and the Black Hills; many camping and fishing trips, cookouts with smores, and driving around to look at the holiday lights.
Ron spent the last of his years with family, surrounded by grandkids.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; brother, Roger; and parents, Lester and LaVerne Mootz.
Ron is survived by his son, Steven (Laura) Mootz; daughter, Jessica (Barney) Ochoa; grandchildren, Caitlyn (Chase), Lydia, Emma, Cynthia, Ethan, Aubrey, Evelyn, Lola, Everett; great-grandson, Finn; and sister-in-law, Pat Mootz.
