Rose Olson

Rose B. Olson, 98, of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully under the care of Ethos Hospice and Bethany Nursing Home on July 31, 2018. Rose was born March 20, 1920 in Fayette, ND to John and Caroline (Johner) Schepper. Rose had two daughters, Shirley Kokora (Palen), Gloria Nelson (Palen), and married Jens Olson in her younger years. She had two step children Darlene Hansen and Jeff Olson. She worked a number of years at Piggly Wiggly in the meat department until she retired. Rose loved spending time with family, listening to music, dancing, riding her 3 wheel bicycle (with whom she gave children countless rides), and traveling. Two of her favorite snacks were peanut butter cookies and orange slices. She always liked a good card game, gardening, word search puzzles, and many other things. She was the pinnacle of her family, as well as in her neighborhood where she had lived for around 60 years. She knew young and old and was welcoming to everyone. She was independent, strong, sometimes stubborn, and never wanted to bother anyone for help. She had a beautiful smile and a big heart. She had moved from her house to an apartment and then moved to Bethany on 42nd and lived her last 3 1/2 years under their care. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Jens, daughter Shirley, and siblings Frank, Dan, Tony, Ed, Lily, and her brother in law Arnie. She is survived by her daughter Gloria Nelson, brother Mike Schepper (Ruby), Step-son Jeff Olson (Judy), Step daughter Darlene Hansen, 11 grandchildren (Mike (Shawn), Boyd, Beth (Patrick), Rene (Tony), Rick, David (Anna), Amy, Tracy, Billy, Kim, Rob), 16 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces Sharon (Dennis) and Jane (Todd), nephew Lynn (Deb) and many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers or other gifts please donate to a cancer fund of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany on 42nd (Meadowlark division) for the great care and compassion that was given to Rose during her stay. We would also like to thank Ethos Hospice care for assisting during these last few months of life. One cannot say enough in words to thank everyone for the care they have given to Rose. Memories Timeline

  1. I can still remember her laugh and smile and having lunch with her across the street at the café from piggly wiggly with grandpa and Jeff. Rest in piece.

  2. I just read & am so sorry of the passing of Rose, her & Jens were clients of mine at the bank in Moorhead for many years & we had many great conversations. We kept in touch for a few years after I left the bank years ago. Then we lost touch as I was not able to reach her. She was an amazing woman & I was so blessed to have known her. She will be dancing in heaven & her bright spirit will shine!! God’s comfort & Peace to all. Debbie

  3. Rene,
Rose was such a wonderful lady. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her and being part of her care team. Thinking of you and your family.

  4. I am deeply saddened to hear of this. Rose was known as “Grandma Rosie” in the neighborhood I grew up in. I met Rosie when I was just 5 and the neighborhood kids were very fond of her. I left the neighborhood at 16 but always visited and always enjoyed seeing her riding her 3 wheel bike. Rosie made such a huge impact on our neighborhood and my childhood. She will be greatly missed & will forever hold a special place inside the neighborhood kids hearts!

  5. Dear Gloria and Family, I am sad for your sorrow. I wish I could have been there to listen, hear your Mom honored and see you. Prayers for all Gloria. Hugs and much love.♥️🙌🏼
