December 1, 1943 ~ January 28, 2025

Born in: Grand Forks, North Dakota
Resided in: Moorhead, Minnesota

Rosemary Margaret Kennedy (Moorhead, MN) was born December 1, 1943 to Richard and Evelyn Swangler in Grand Forks, ND. She caught the eye of Marvin Kennedy in the summer of ’61 at the races. It was love at first sight and they married shortly after.

Rosemary wore a lot of hats over the years – loving wife, Mom, beloved Grandma (Ba), and to friends and coworkers- Rosie Q. She was the matriarch of 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. She kept track of dates for everyone – birthdays, anniversaries; hosted elaborate Sunday dinners, holiday feasts, always made tons of cookies every Christmas, and that amazing chocolate cake loved by all.

She worked for years in the deli serving students at MSU, as a para at Moorhead Senior High, and later on at Curves where she made friends while working out, hula hooping, and doing Zumba. She loved to bake, sew, make quilts, read, garden, do puzzles and spend time with her family. She was sassy and one tough cookie, overcoming numerous health struggles over the years to enjoy more time with all her babies. She took dialysis on like it was her job and made friends everywhere she went. Rosie was a hard worker and always made the best of everything even when it was not always easy.

She passed peacefully on January 28th, 2025 surrounded by her daughters, eldest granddaughter, and second grandson.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers George, Mike, Jim, Joe, and sister Iris.

Rosie is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years- Marvin; siblings Ed (Carol), Frank (Pat), Jerry (Yvonne), and Richie (Cheryl), Dorothy, Marilyn, and Anne (John); children Julie, Tim (Kristi), Michelle (Jonathan), Scott (Jackie); grandchildren Jennifer, Ashley (Jerome), Emily, Cole, Joseph (Nevada), Cullen (Lindsay), Sam (Madison), Michael (Kianna), Jake; and great grand babies Paisley, Oliver, and Penelope.
