Ruby Aleene Baugh. age 81, was promoted to glory on Friday July 26, 2024 at the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND, attended by her loving family and friends. Choosing to go by her middle name, Aleene was born February 23, 1943, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Freda Mae (Fancher) and Don Carlos Williams. The third of seven children, she spent most of her childhood in Birmingham, Alabama.
She loved God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She had a passion for Bible reading and studying. She was a genuine prayer warrior and loved to worship and shared her love of her Lord and Savior with everyone.
Aleene came to the Salvation Army when her family moved to Chicago in her teens. It was there that her relationship with God matured and where she met her husband Harold who shared her loving spirit and passion for service to the Lord. After spending a decade starting a family together, they felt the call to full time ministry and in 1974 were ordained as Officers in the Salvation Army spending the next 40 + years serving even after they ‘retired’. Together they faithfully served in 13 appointments and never regretted the sacrifices made to help those in need.
Perhaps most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fond of saying that if she knew that they were going to be that much fun, she would have had them first. She always made time for them and never missed an opportunity to tell them how much they were loved. She claimed many surrogate children along the way as well and made it her mission to make them feel special and cared for.
Aleene is survived by 4 children: daughter, Deborah (Nelson) De La Vergne of Bismarck, ND; sons, Gary (Sandra) Baugh of Fort Worth, TX, William Baugh of Fargo, ND, and Donald (Shannon) Baugh of Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren, Leah (Dustin) Rumsey, Joy McEachern, Crystal (Christopher) Gresswell, Joanna Baugh, Andrew Franks, Megan Baugh, and Ian Baugh; 3 great grandchildren, Micha Rumsey, Abigal Rumsey, and Sadie McEachern.
She is preceded in death by her loving and cherished husband of 58 years, Harold Baugh; a greatly missed daughter, Catherine Baugh; her parents; sister, Sue Allan and brother, Calvin Williams.
Her legacy will live on in all whom she made contact with. We celebrate her life and her love.
