Ruby "Ruby D" Askew-Jemison, 83, Fargo, N.D., died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Bethany Homes Living Center. Ruby (Ruby D) Askew-Jemison was born March 12, 1938, to Bethoven and Josephine Askew. Her journey began in Senetobia, MS. in Tate County. Moving forward, the next stop in her life was Memphis, TN, then to Chicago, IL and her final stop was Fargo, N.D.  Ruby wore many hats; from being a Fashionista to the workforce. She was a Lab Tech, CNA and with all her daughters she was also a Cosmetologist to name a few. She retired as an employee of the  State of Illinois.  Ruby was religious, she was a Christian for many years before she eventually became a Jehovah Witness. She loved sports, and she especially enjoyed being her grandkids’ cheerleader. She was an active grandma in the Fargo/Moorhead community. "She lived, laughed and loved with everything she had" One surviving sibling Gearlyn Swift and Cameron Wright (child). Five siblings preceded her in death.  Survived by four daughters (daughter) Bessie and Randy Buchholz, Alvin Bledson (deceased), Taurus Bledsoe, Jessie Bledsoe, (daughter) Romance and Michael Cullen II, Michael Cullen III and Alijey Bledsoe, (daughter) LaChaunda Parks, Jatara Parks (deceased) and Jefferey Jr Parks, (deceased daughter) Elisha Jemison, Vanisha Jemison and Tenisha Jemison, (daughter) Tetris Jemison-Desjarlais, Brandon Jemison, Vincent Desjarlais and Bravin Desjarlais and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Ruby will be very much missed and leaves behind her siblings, nieces, nephews etc.  She often mentioned "My family is my greatest accomplishments". Ruby's wish was to be cremated and we are honoring her wishes by not having a service. Thank you for your kind expressions and thoughtfulness of sympathy it's appreciated and will always be remembered by the family of Ruby Askew.

  2. I met Ruby several years ago when she lived at Manor Care. My boyfriend was across the hall and they became friends. Ruby was so kind and friendly to my grandkids and I.

  3. ruby was such a classy woman i got to know her at the arc thrift store and her daughters also so sorry to hear of your loss you guys always made my day when u came in the store love rita simonson

  4. We are very sorry for the loss her family and friends are facing right now. We will miss seeing Ruby’s smiling face at meetings but we are confident we will see her again, young and healthy, when Jehovah God resurrects her!
