Russell “Russ” Buck, 51, Harwood, ND, passed away Sat, June 3rd, 2023, peacefully in his sleep.
Russell “Russ” Earnest Buck was born Feb 1st, 1972, in Parkston, SD, he was the son of William Edward Buck, Sr and Norliss Faye (Moe) Buck Overweg. He attended school in Stickney, SD until 1984 & graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in Sturgis, SD. He joined the Army and served for 6 years. He studied engineering at NDSU. He worked at Hooter’s in Fargo, ND in various positions including management until he started work at Peterson Farms Seed where he worked for the past 22 years, most recently as a dock supervisor. Russ was a very valued employee. He loved his work and the comradery he had with Carl & Julie Peterson and all his coworkers. Russ enjoyed taking part in each of the activities and fun challenges that were hosted there.
In his free time, Russ enjoyed bowling and many outdoor activities like fishing, camping, gardening, and many other things. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed seeing them on various trips and at events.
Russ is survived by his siblings: William Jr (Melissa), Dale (Susie), Darryl (Debbie), Wayne, & Loretta; nieces & nephews: Brianna, Trevor, Dakota, Angela, Samantha, & Wendy; great nieces & nephews: Rylee, Carson, Benjamin, Amira, Dakoda, James, Harleen, Elycia, Lucas, Jayce, Audrey, & Kymber, & 1 niece expected in July; aunts: Elena Moe, Charleen Parker & Darlene Palmer; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents: William & Norliss; nieces, Crystal & Charlotte; uncles: Marlin Moe, Ronald Moe, George Parker, Robert Buck, & Gary Palmer; aunts: Rita Moe, Jean Moe, & Sally Moe.
A short Committal Service will be held from
1 pm to 1:15 pm on Fri, July 14th, 2023, at the
Fargo National Cemetery
8709 40th Ave N (Cnty Rd 20); Harwood, ND
Military rights are provided by the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard.
Taps will be played by Mike Larson, Russ’ coworker for the past 21 years.
Following the service, we will gather for fellowship and a light lunch at Russ’ employer, Peterson Farms Seed at 3104 164th Ave SE, Harwood, ND.

So sorry for your loss. I did not know him but I have worked with his sister Loretta for many years.
So sad and shocked to hear of Russ passing. We were Co-workers at Peterson Farms Seed for 8 years and always valued his helpfulness, his smile and our short but pleasant conversations. He was such a good sport in partaking in fun events at the office. He will be missed by many. A life cut short. Rest in peace Russ.
I am so sorry to hear this news!! I met him through a friend/co-worker of his. At Peterson Farms. I sold Russ his home in Harwood. He was so nice and seemed to love life!! Prayers to his family and friends! 🙏
