Ruth E. Borseth

Ruth Evelyn (Dahl) Borseth was born February 8, 1928 in Fargo, ND to Martin and Olina (Olson) Dahl.

Ruth attended school in West Fargo, ND. From 1945 to 1946 she worked as a teletype operator in Chicago, and Minneapolis. In late 1946 she returned to her hometown of Fargo, ND and worked as a teletype operator at Armour’s in West Fargo.

On May 20, 1947, Ruth married Allen Borseth at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, ND. They resided in Seattle, Washington, the first year of their marriage. In the summer of 1948 they moved back to Fargo, ND. Allen passed away in 2010.

Ruth was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, and a member of Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church in Moorhead. She was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in West Fargo.

In January 2007, Ruth and Allen took their adult children on a Caribbean cruise. It was quite an experience for the family!

In her youth, Ruth enjoyed roller skating. Later, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games, dancing, and visiting family and friends. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. It was always important to Ruth to gather her family together in her home for holidays. She loved going to their lake cabin on Tulaby Lake.

Ruth is survived by her Sons: Steven Weitz, Bladensburg, MD: David Borseth, Mapleton, ND; Kevin (Laina Magaw) Borseth, Fargo, ND; Randy (Darrell Mulder) Borseth, Sioux Falls, SD and Brian (Lisa) Borseth, Moorhead, MN. Daughters: Yvonne Erickson, Greenbush, MN; and Janice (Mike) Simpson, Redmond, OR; as well as 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are Sisters: Berniece Krogwold and Mary Lou Christl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Allen Borseth; Daughter: Karen Marcinko: Son-in-law: Terry Erickson. Brothers: Wallace Dahl and Martin Dahl. Sisters: Barbara Weis, Louise Schober and Doris Krogh. Brothers-in-Law: Kenneth Krogwold; Clarence Krogh; Ernie Christl; Tony Weis; and Allan Schober. Sisters-in-Law: Vivian Dahl and Laverne Dahl. Daughter-in-Law: Dottie Weitz.

Ruth passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 at SMP – St. Catherine South at the age of 98.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead Campus, Alzheimer’s Association and/or Sanford Hospice.

Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead Campus. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead Campus. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
