Ruth passed away peacefully, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Elim Care Center in Fargo, at the age of 88.

Ruth Elaine (Adamson) Asmus was born in Fargo, ND on Maun day-Thursday April 9, 1936, to Arthur and Margaret (Wells) Adamson. She was confirmed at Baxter Lutheran Church in Montevideo, MN and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1954.

While in High School she worked as bookkeeper as F.W. Woolworth. Upon graduation she worked for the Massey Ferguson dealer L. E. Campbell Co. In February of 1955 she returned to Fargo to attend Interstate Business College where she received Student of the Week in August of 1955. During this time she was working at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo as a Medical Secretary.

Ruth and Clifford were married on September 28, 1957, at Baxter Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo.

They moved to Fargo in 1959 where Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for Northern Drug, Co. & Victor H Leeby Co. She also worked as a Secretary for The Veterans of Foreign Wars Headquarters Office in Fargo.

Ruth was a life member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1964. During that time she was a member of the Naomi Circle and alongside Clifford they worked as part of the Tidings Crew. In addition to her work at the church Ruth was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 762 in Fargo serving two terms as Auxiliary President, in addition to being District 10 President and Assistant Secretary for the Department from 1986-1987. She was also a life member of the Amvets Auxiliary Post #7.

Ruth volunteered for over 50 years at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo and enjoyed visiting with their patients. She also loved to bake for family and friends and enjoyed making items for bake sales at Bethlehem and the VFW. Her Caramel Rolls, bread, Krum Kaka and doughnuts always being a big hit.
During their life together Ruth and Clifford enjoyed getting together with friends for coffee, treats and great conversation. After Clifford’s passing in 2003 Ruth filled her time by working for Red River Coffee Co, Scheels, Expressway Inn & Suites, Scherling Photography and until she could not work any longer she was a shopper for Cashwise grocery. She enjoyed her time there helping customers and filling online shopping orders.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters; Barbara Danielson and Laurie Asmus both of Fargo. Her granddaughter Sara (Philip) Wieck of Fargo and their two boys her great grandsons; Anthony and Andrew Wieck. Her two Goddaughters Cynthia Thompson, and Susan Anderson and her Godson Randy Hustad as well as a special family friend Rod Krueger.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Clifford. Her son-in-law Jerry Danielson, her sister Marlys Adamson as well as her parents, her in-laws John and Clara (Ramsey) Asmus, Grandparents Fred and Mary Adamson and John and Mabel Wells.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the staff and all of the caregivers at Elim in Fargo for the loving care they provided to Ruth.

VISITATION: 5-7 PM Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Friday

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10 AM Friday, December 27, 2024, at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo

BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery in Fargo

  1. WAS surprised to hear of Ruth passing. So glad I stopped and left a note for her. Also have a nice visit with her at her apartment few months ago. Will be changes for you three girls. Nice to visit. with you Bard this week and seeing Lori at the VFW on Veterans Day. God Bless.

    So sorry for your loss. Although I did not know your Mom, I do know your devotion to her; it is obvious she was an incredibly special person and she will be missed.

    To the Christmas party’s downstairs at fargo VFW always got a little toy and bag of candy with your peanuts apple orange and the ribbon candy
