Ryan F. Mayer, 40, Casselton was granted the miracle of eternal life with Christ, Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

Ryan was born May 26, 1969 to Francis and Delila (Hauck) Mayer in Dickinson, ND. Ryan attended and graduated from Mott High School in 1987. He then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag/Econ at NDSU, graduating in 1991. During his college years, Ryan was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. In 1992, Ryan was hired by the St. Paul Bank for Cooperatives which later merged with CoBank where he continued to work as a Senior Credit Analyst until his death. Ryan married the love of his life, Lori Schlecht on September 21, 2002 at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church. To this union, three beautiful children were born; Matthew, Andrew, and Maria.

Ryan enjoyed helping family and friends with the wheat and sugar beet harvest. He loved to be in the yard, riding his John Deere mower or tending his roses. He enjoyed snowmobiling, dancing, camping with his family, and taking his kids on walks to see the trains. Ryan was very handy, working on many projects in his garage. He loved Nascar, Fighting Sioux Hockey, the Minnesota Twins and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #11930, where he held multiple positions including Grand Knight. He was Recording Secretary of the FarmHouse Association Board for many years and Vice President of the Rural Cass Snowmobile Club. Ryan and his wife Lori were passionate about being a sponsor couple at their church for those preparing for marriage.

Ryan was known for being a strong, steady, faith-filled person who learned the lessons of life from his Grandpa Mayer. His faith matured at Search retreats where he inspired others to grow in their walk with Christ.  He was a gentle, loving husband and father.  Ryan will be remembered as one who took to heart the motto of St. Francis of Assisi:  "Preach the Gospel always...if necessary, use words."
