Sarah was born June 22, 1980 in Bismarck N.D. to Cindy Ziemann and Keith Highley. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1998, Bismarck State College in 2000, and her beloved NDSU in 2004 with a business degree. She was a huge, devoted Bison fan. She was a very active member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She loved her sisters’ at the house and considered them her close family. She had various business jobs in Fargo and excelled as an insurance agent. At an early age, she accepted her Lord through salvation, lead bible studies and was an intercessor with prayer. You needed prayer, Sarah had your back. Every Friday night, Sarah and her mother would pray a Jewish blessing together. Fancy Cat was her loyal companion and angel cat. Sarah adopted Fancy from Cat’s Cradle in 2012 and she knew right away Fancy was meant for her and she was meant for Fancy. Fancy had a special ability to sense when Sarah needed her the most. Whether it was with kisses, touching her cheek with her paw, or laying on her chest. Fancy always showed unconditional love.
Sarah enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting. She often made personalized gifts for friends and family. One of her favorite things to do was shop for unique antiques. She loved reading a good book and laughing or crying at the movies. Sarah was known for her bubbly laughter, contagious smile, and she lit up the room. She loved getting together with people for social events. She never forgot to send a card for someone’s birthday, holidays or for encouragement. She loved to decorate for holidays and shopped for the perfect gift for friends.

Sarah and I were best friends in high school. She had such an amazing gift of being able to make others feel special, loved, and supported. I can’t stop thinking about her. I pray she’s found peace.

Even though we were never very close, this one is hitting hard. The amount of love for her is pouring out and I just hope she knew/knows how much she was loved. She was a sweet, gentle, kind, loving soul that uplifted everyone around her. Heaven got a little brighter with her in it. Rest easy Sarah

Sarah, you will truly be missed. Your loving and calm spirit will be memories of the best part of my day/time spent with you. I looked forward to spending more time with you, but sometimes god has other plans. Your smile and your laugh was so infectious. You were a great earthly friend to have. Tears will fade away, but your spirit will forever be with me. I love you and more important… God loves you best, so he called you home.
Finally be at peace in your heart and rest well my friend.
My prayers are with the family during this time.
Sarah was one of my good friends in high school. I used to visit her when she worked at Dans, we hit a few out door concerts and I will never forget Us sobbing like fools in the movie theater watching titanic. She was always a ray of light. My heart goes out to all of her friends, family and beloved kitty.
Highley Family~Sarah was one of my closest friends in high school & college. We relocated to Bismarck our junior year of high school, and she made this transition so much easier. She took me under her wing, introduced me to her friends, and always made me feel included. When I moved out of state14 years ago, Sarah was one of a few friends that made it a point to come see me when she could. Sarah was beautiful inside and out. She will be missed by many.
So very saddened with this news of Sarah!
She was a beautiful nice young lady and will be missed.
My prayers are for her family this day-
I did not know Sarah, but I knew her father, Uncle Tom, Aunt Kathy & her Grandma & Grandpa Highley. I taught school in Pettibone where Keith,& rest of Highley family lived. My sincere sympathy & prayers!
Dear Sarah, You were so young, you died so early, we’ll never forget you. We hope that you will find the special peace where you are.
With heartfelt Sympathy to your Mum and family from your distant cousin.
Cindy, we are so sorry to hear of Sarah’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike, Lorri, Kristi and Nathan Sandal
My condolences on your loss. I read this obituary by chance, and I’m glad I did. I found a link between Sarah and I. My grandfather was Raymond Reinhardt. He was the second cousin of Lucille and Doris. Again, my sympathies to the families of such a beautiful young woman.
Although we have not been in touch for quite a few years, every time I saw Sarah we would reminisce about our childhood fun and playing hide and seek in my grandmas basement and hiding in the washing machine (not a good idea ;)) and walking up and down the alley to our houses hundreds of times. Also, junior high cheerleading and dances. So many good memories of such a wonderful girl. Sorry for your loss.
Praying for God’s comfort and peace for you and your family. So sorry. Hugs!
Keith, Sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers, losing a child is such a hard thing to get through. God be with you.
