Selma ?Sally? B. Homdrom, age 85, formerly of Kindred, ND, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Sally Barbara Salem was born on February 9, 1919, in Crookston, MN. The daughter of Emma and Barber Salem, Sally was baptized and confirmed at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston, MN, and attended Cathedral School. On June 19, 1941, Sally was united in marriage to Olaf Homdrom of Erskine, MN, in Crookston. They made their home at Chatfield, MN, until the following June of 1942, when Olaf was drafted into the U.S. Army. She traveled with Olaf to Alabama, Tennessee, and California while he attended Ranger training. While Olaf was serving in the Southwest Pacific area, Sally became very ill with polio. After Olaf was discharged from the Army in 1945, he and Sally moved to Spring Valley, MN. In 1947, they moved to Grand Forks, ND. In 1952 they moved to Thief River Falls, MN, where they owned and operated a Taxi Cab Company. They later sold their business and moved to Jamestown, ND. In 1957, they moved to Kindred, ND, where Olaf was employed with Cass County Electric and Sally worked as a cook at the Kindred school from 1967-1981, when they both retired. They moved to Fargo in 1983. Sally was a lifetime member of the West Fargo VFW Auxiliary. She and Olaf spent many hours playing cribbage and going on long walks together. She also enjoyed knitting and visiting with her friends. Olaf passed away on October 10, 2003. Sally is survived by a son, Jim, Del Mar, CA; a daughter, Judy Johnson, West Fargo, ND; a brother, Bud (Terry) Salem, Crookston; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Olaf, Sally was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Louis, Sam, and Marcel (Muss) Salem; and four sisters, Mary Anderson, Aggie Taylor, Betty Bachellor, and Barbara Butler. Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004, in St. Mary?s Cathedral, Fargo. Visitation: One hour before the funeral in the church. Burial: Kindred Cemetery, Kindred, ND.
