Sharon Mae Gunwall, daughter of Albert C. and Myrtle W. Cizadlo, loving wife of David G. Gunwall, born in Watertown SD, passed away on September 15th surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband David, and children: Father Kurtis, Keven (Carol), Kraig (Tammi), Tamara and Melissa (David) Ion. Sharon was also survived by her five siblings: David (Bernice) Cizadlo , Richard (Gail) Cizadlo, Judy (Davey) Dockter, Kenneth (Peg) Cizadlo, and Dawn Kamrath, as well as her in-laws Wayne (Glenda) Gunwall, Tom (Anita) Gunwall, Jean (Gus) Valenchenko, Jeff (Dana) Gunwall, Rob (Becky) Gunwall, and Mickey (Mary) Gunwall. Sharon was also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her grandson William, two siblings DeAnne Dumke and Dennis Cizadlo and two brother-in-laws Willard Dumke and Dennis Kamrath.
Sharon attended school at the Holy Rosary Catholic School, Goodwin School, and Clear Lake High School in South Dakota. She attended Stewart’s School of Hair Styling and worked as a beautician for 7 years in Milbank, SD.
Sharon and David were married on August 7, 1965. They moved to Wadena, MN in 1971 to raise their 5 children. They grew in love over their 57 years together.
Family and Faith have always been important to her since a young age. Sharon started and led many bible studies throughout her life (women’s studies, 31 club, etc.), many of which have continued on today and have touched and helped more people than she ever knew. She helped the church/community/schools often (religious education teacher, children’s and junior choir and catholic school board, just to name a few).
Sharon also shared her love with others by working at the Shady Lane Nursing Home, fostering 5 children, and running a daycare out of the house. The Gunwall house was listed as a safe house by the local municipalities and was used more than once to help people in need.
Sharon loved to spend the start and end of each day with David, praying for the needs of others.
Sharon always enjoyed crafts, sewing, decorating, painting and reading and discussing books.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gerald Gross, Jennifer Huffmann, Dr. Jeffrey Hunt and the supporting staff at the Roger Maris Cancer Center and the Hospice House.
Memorials preferred to Women’s Care Clinic and/or please have a Mass offered in Sharon’s name at your church.

Fargo ND 58104,
Sharon I’ve always enjoyed our conversations discussing faith and family. Loved your visits!
So happy to have you as my cousin.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei,
requiescant in pace.
Sharon was always so nice to me.
If I had a question about the Catholic teachings etc. ( I am a convert). But a Catholic for 45 years.
I thought I should know it all already.
And Sharon would always say to me “Oh Kathy, We all are always learning”.
At the St Anne’ Christian mothers meeting in wadena Minnesota we prayed for Mrs gunwalll. The meeting was at 6 pm and we had a very nice statue of blessed Virgin Mary and two pink candles!!! Thinking of you from wadena
I’ll never forget Sharon’s big smile and laugh. It’s how I’ll always picture her.
I will always remember that she had room at her table and in her heart for one more.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Until we meet again.
Condolences go out to Dave and family at this time. We all missed you in Wadena. RIP
