Sharyn Marie Melting, age 77, passed away January 18, 2024, in Fargo, ND.

“I had a dream. As I was in the funeral home viewing Sharyn in her casket, Jesus appeared. He took Sharyn’s hand and said to her, ‘Come follow me. It’s time to go home.’ ” John A. Melting

Sharyn was born July 24, 1946, to Eugene and Elizabeth Kautzman in Mandan, ND. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1964. Sharyn married the love of her life John Melting on March 1, 1965, and shortly after they moved and found home in Fargo, ND.

Her job gave her the chance to travel to many of America’s largest cities where she had the opportunity to explore, eat local cuisines, and take cooking classes to enrich and share her love of cooking with family and friends.

Summers were always special at the lake. She enjoyed basking in the sun, paddle boating, going for walks, and spending time entertaining family and friends. Sharyn loved watching her grandchildren grow up at the lake every summer.

She was an active member and volunteer both in her church and in the community. Sharyn formed many lifelong friendships that held a special place in her heart.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Deepest sympathy to John and family. I have fond memories of cousin Sharyn growing up. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. We have many special memories of Sharyn and Family but one comes to mind and brings a smile to my heart.

Camping in Alexandria, MN with their family and ours and catching fire flies around the camp fire at night. We snacked on goodies far into the night and just enjoyed being together. She will be missed.

  3. Sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin, Sharon. I feel blessed to have grown up with all the Kautzmann cousins in Mandan – there was always something to do – great memories.
I send my sympathy, best wishes and prayers to all of you. God Bless…………

  4. So sorry to hear of Sharyn’s passing. We knew the family when they lived on 10th Street South.

  5. We are so saddened by our loss of a wonderful cousin and friend. We will truly miss her and her laugh and great smile. Love your 2 cousins💔

  6. Sharon was a co worker with me at Red River Commodities. She was everything a person should be, or wish they could be. Very dedicated to always doing the right thing for co workers, the company, and certainly for her family. She was a treasure. I extend my condolences to all in the Melting family and thank you for allowing Sharon to be such a great part of my life.
    With deepest sympathies,
    Bob Majkrzak

  8. Loved all our impromptu coffee get togethers and the many lunches, coming out to Sheldon for flower shopping and of course that included going to lunch!

Also will miss our fall girls weekend usually at the lake and lots of good eating and card playing! Fond memories of my dear friend, Sharyn!

  9. Dearest Sharyn, I hold you close to my heart and will miss you very much. You were the absolute best friend to my mom for so many years and always there for me. I will never forget our memories together, your faith and wisdom, and amazing cooking skills! Praying for you John and family.
    Love Always,
    Megan

  10. I am thinking of my cousins & Uncle John. I Love you guys and I am praying for you to feel God’s love an peace all around you. Aunt Sharyn is the coolest. Full of fun and creative ideas. I think of her when ever I step out of my comfort zone when baking.

  11. Larry & Karen Kautzman
John, kids, grandkids, brothers and sisters I am sorry for your loss. Why did God decide he needed a happy person, a smily face, and a wonderful cook? We never know why the good Lord does what He does, but I believe there is always a reason. Our prayers for you and yours.
So many wonderful memories of summers spent together both in Mandan and Beach. We were more like best friends than cousins. I will remember her smile and her funny way of talking forever.

  12. My heartfelt sympathy to Sharyn’s family & friends. She had a remarkable life & was very blessed! I’m so happy we were able to talk & had our picture taken in July of 2019 in Mandan. Hugs to all who knew her ❤️

  13. My sympathy to Sharyn’s family. Our family has known the Melting’s for years and I am sad to hear of her passing. I looked forward to our yearly visits in April. Sharyn always had a smile to share, was so kind and will be missed. Hugs to you all.

    • As Sharyn’s first cousin who grew up in Billings, Montana, I always enjoyed getting see my cousins when they would come to visit us, or when we would visit Mandan. And then a few years ago, I was going to get the opportunity, now living in DFW, to see Sharyn for the first time in many years as she was on one of her trips with Pampered Chef to Dallas. Sadly, I got quite sick and was not able to get to be with her. However, we did become Facebook friends. I so enjoyed her posts of her family her wonderful cooking skills. She was such a cute child and then as an adult her smile just radiated love and joy! And now I look forward to finally getting to see and hug her when God calls me home. In the meantime, I pray God’s grace fills all her family with comfort and peace as they morn her loss.❤️🙏

  14. I got to know Sharyn when she was a Pampered Chef vendor at the Richwood Winery. What a sweet, sweet lady with such huge and wonderful smiles. I didn’t get to know Sharyn very well, but we were able to visit at our various events.
And, we always reserved the gazebo for her. She was soo appreciative! The world needs more people like Sharyn. I am soo sorry for your family’s loss.

  15. Words fall short of expressing my condolences but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time.

    • On behalf of the children, seniors and families who seek emergency food assistance from the Great Plains Food Bank each year I want to send our condolences to the Melting family. Sharyn not only brought joy to people who love to cook, but she brought meals (and hope) to individuals living with food insecurity. Sharyn will be greatly missed.

  16. Sorry for your loss. I have know Sharon since our daughters were in Brownies at Hawthorne School. I also worked with her at Fargo South Food Service. I enjoyed going to her Pampered Chefs parties she held. She was a great person to visit with. I’ll miss her.
