Sheryl Ann Overboe was born on January 5, 1945, in Fargo, ND to Peder and Agnes (Sorbel) Overboe. She was raised on a farm by Kindred and went to Country School until 8th grade. Sheryl graduated from Kindred High School in 1963. She attended NDSSS in Wahpeton and worked at Fargo Clinic and Dakota National Bank where she met her husband Curt Ask, the love of her life. They were married on April 12, 1969, at Kindred Lutheran Church; they lived in Fargo/Moorhead and moved to Kent, MN in 1975.
Sheryl was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Abercrombie. She loved to cook especially pies and making lefse at Christmas time. She was a bowler, an avid golfer, and loved to play mahjong and bridge with her friends at One Oak. She cherished traveling with Curt and their many friends, exploring countless destinations in their motorhome. In later years, she especially loved visiting Cabo and Palm Desert.
Sheryl was a friend to many and found comfort in the friendships she made at One Oak, where she moved after Curt’s passing. Throughout her lifetime, she cherished the countless friendships she formed, each one adding joy and meaning to her journey. Her greatest blessings were her children and grandchildren, whom she was with when she entered her eternal home. She will be remembered always for her kindness and loving heart.
Sheryl will be missed by her children, Jason (Fran) Ask, West Fargo, ND, and Andrea (Jay) Thimjon, Wahpeton, ND; her grandchildren Katelyn and Emily Ask and Kobe and Riley Thimjon; her brothers Tom (Gloria) Overboe and David (Debora) Overboe; her brothers-in-law, Tom (Anita) Ask and David (Kim) Ask; and many nieces and nephews; and all who called her friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Curt Ask, sister Phyllis Linscheid and brother-in-law Jim Linscheid.

I’ve lost my very best friend of 60 years, & will miss our times together, our phone call’s, hugs when we saw one another, and the many times of laughing so hard that you all know what can happen ?? Sheryl will be missed by everyone who knew her & her very kind heart. May Sheryl rest in peace eternally with Curt by her side! Love you dearest friend, until we meet again. Jane Parker
I’ve only known Sheryl for five years but she quickly became my close friend. We went on some trips together and enjoined sharing many activities here at One Oak Place. She was everyone’s friend. I will miss her!

I met Sheryl 60 years ago, and we have been friends ever since. We were a trio of 3- a sisterhood – Sheryl, Jane and me. I will miss our “girlie weekends”, our 2-3 hour lunches or dinners, chats over a glass of wine and the comfort/pleasure that comes with being with a friend who will love you forever – flaws and all. Rest now, dear friend, in Curt’s loving arms.
I’ve known Sheryl since college. She was a very nice person and a true friend. My sympathies to her family…she will be missed.
To Sheryl’s loved ones: we have lost a treasured part of our memories and heart. My husband and I were neighbors for 17 years at Forest Hills RV and golf resort near Detroit Lakes. Nearly every weekend Tom, Curt and Sheryl golfed as I often rode the course and cheered, laughed and comforted the golfers. We witnessed Sheryl’s hole in one on hole 1 at Forest Hills and I arranged a party to celebrate. It was great fun. The cul-de-sac happy hours…such special times. Tom often went to Kent to see Curt and the customer appreciation with the bank. After Curt’s passing Tom never found anyone to bond with like he did those two and we soon left Forest Hills. Blessed be Sheryl’s memory for all.of us that have been touched by their friendships.
I went to country grade school with Sheryl. I remember Sheryl as being a fun friendly girl and later years i would see her we always had a good chat. My love and prayers to all of you.
Sheryl was a kind & trusted friend for over 30 years. That’s about how long we were a foursome with Celine B & Jane F. When we couldn’t golf we would meet for lunch, always wanting to keep up with how each was doing. Sheryl smile & warm personality will remain in my heart for a very long time. Peace to her family who she loved & was so very proud of.
I’m so grateful to have known Sheryl my entire life as she was the sister my mom never had. I have fond memories of her (and all of you) that I will carry with me forever. I will miss keeping up with your families through their weekly phone calls (my mom always called me after their calls to fill me in), her kind and generous heart, and her contagious laugh! Our hearts are heavy for all of you and our family bond will live on forever ❤️
Aunt Cheryl was the best! I have fun memories of summer visits to MN. She had the best laugh. Cheryl was so welcoming and always had the best sweet treats. She will be missed. Hugs and love to you all.
Deepest sympathy . You are all in my thoughts and prayers .
