Sigrid Ovrebo

Sigrid Emelia Ovrebo passed away on July 29, 2004, Halstad, MN. She was a resident of Halstad Living Center. Sigrid Blomquist was born on 2 Sept 1914, in Spring Lake Minnesota. At an early age she moved to Waubun, Minnesota where her father owned the creamery. She graduated from Waubun high school in 1930. She attended business college in Superior, Wisconsin. On September 2, 1938, she married Gerhard O. Ovrebo. She and Gerhard lived in several places and in 1946 moved to Valley City, ND, where Gerhard taught at what was then called Valley City State Teachers College. Sigrid was a homemaker and managed the College Bookstore. After Gerhard=s retirement from Valley City State they moved in 1977 to Apache Junction, AZ. They later moved to Green Valley, AZ. During retirement they spent the summer months at their cabin on White Earth Lake, Minnesota. In 2000 Sigrid moved to Halstad. Sigrid is survived by son John (Halstad) and wife Pat and their children Christopher (St. Paul) and Katie (Fargo), son Clark (Edmond, OK), sisters Jean Hoff (Green Valley, AZ), Marianne Blomquist (Edina, MN), Marge (Bob) Johnson (Naples, FL), brothers Don (Mary) Bloomquist (Richmond, VA) and Ted (Rae) Blomquist (Green Valley, AZ), and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sisters Grace Blomquist, Joy Erickson, and brothers-in-law Edgar Hoff and Donald Erickson. Sigrid enjoyed many things in life. Among her most passionate interests were classical music, nature, bird-watching and grandchildren. In Valley City she was an active member of PEO and Bridge Club. She touched the lives of everyone she met. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 4, 2004 at 10:15 a.m. at the Halstad Living Center and at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.
