Sister Stella Olson completed her earthly journey July 7, 2024, one day before the 40th anniversary of the death of her mother. Stella Ann Olson was born to Arthur W. and Agnes Tharp Olson on January 29, 1940, in Mandan, ND. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and Mandan High School graduating in 1957. She graduated from Bismarck Junior College in 1959 and became a legal stenographer. She married Thomas D. Kautzman in 1959 and moved to Fargo where they made their home. Tamara, Eric, Rex, and Craig were born of this marriage. During this time, she was active in the Mrs. Jaycees and Nativity Catholic Church.

An impending divorce took her back to work in the public sector at Dakota Hospital. Ten years after the divorce she was called to religious life and entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She professed vows June 22, 1997. Following graduation from the University of Mary in 1998 she served in various capacities until retirement.

Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Arthur II, John, Dennis, and Jane Harsh. Surviving Sister Stella are her children, Tamara (Steve) Kraft, Eric (Deborah) Kautzman, Rex (Karen) Kautzman, and Craig (Jennifer) Kautzman; her grandchildren, Brian, Anna, and Kate Kautzman, Teagan, Ingrid and Karsten Kautzman, Bohdi and Meliah, Michael (Ashley) Kraft, and Mitchell (Kristina) Kraft; and great-grandchildren, Ivan and Autum, Grayden and Izora. Her religious community, Sisters of the Presentation, and Associates/FON also mourn her loss.

Prayer Service is 6:30 pm Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. Joseph Chapel at Riverview. Funeral Mass is 10:30 am Tuesday, July 16 at Nativity Church of Fargo. Visitation is one hour before each service.
