https://vimeo.com/event/568902 Steve Paul Midthun, 50, of Denver, CO, passed away December 17th, 2020 in Fargo, ND. Steve was born June 1st, 1970 in Valley City, ND. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; Marshall and Norma Remford Midthun. He is survived by his husband, Joe Fiala, his siblings David (Wanda), Brian (Janet), Marsha (Pete) Peschang, and Jon (Julie), his stepmother; Judy Midthun, step-siblings; Missy (Bob) Elton, Londa (Punk) Baumgartner, and Steve (Jodi) Sortland, as well as his many loved nieces and nephews. Steve married his best friend, Joe Fiala, in the Moraine Amphitheater in Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park on October 17th, 2015. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Lakewood, CO, and was well-loved by his community. Steve had an amazing gift for music. He was classically trained in piano, and had a beautiful tenor baritone voice that inspired and awed friends and family alike. He and Joe would put together CDs for their roadtrips filled with their favorite songs, called their "Happy CD," and Steve would sing songs for days after seeing a musical. On his breaks during work, he could often be found singing for the residents. Singing was one of his greatest joys, and one of things that made him feel closest to God. He lifted the hearts of everyone who listened. Steve had an adventurous spirit, and loved to spend his time visiting National Parks, zoos, and aquariums, and enjoyed hunting for rare and unique rocks. He also had a deep love of travel, and discovering new places to explore, including new restaurants he'd seen highlighted on the Food Network. Above all, Steve loved to spend time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to visits from his siblings, nieces, and nephews, and was quick to smile and laugh. Whether that time was spent in the great outdoors, fishing on a lake or taking a walk, or spent inside watching a movie or eating a meal together, Steve was always glad to be surrounded by the people he loved most. Steve's family will gather and invite friends to a celebration of life in 2021. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to donate to the ASPCA in Steve's memory. “That you stay in my life through its joys and tears; And I’ll be here for you in your joys, tears, and years.” -- Steve Midthun, “Merry Christmas”
