Sue M. Jordahl

Susan Mary (Anderson) Jordahl was born on February 7, 1947 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Harold and Adeline Anderson.

Sue died June 8, 2026 at her home in Fargo of heart failure under the care of Sanford Hospice.

Sue grew up in Long Prairie, Minnesota where she attended elementary school and high school. She went on to Moorhead (Minn.) State University where she met the love of her life, Rick Jordahl. Sue and Rick were married in March of 1967. They then moved to the Twin Cities and returned to Moorhead in 1968 where they resided for more than 40 years.

Sue loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Choir and St. Joseph Catholic Church Adult Choir for many years. She volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic School and Shanley High School. Sue was a member of the FM Junior League, PEO Chapter DC, Catholic Mothers, Catholic Daughters, and the FM Symphony. She served on many different committees for these organizations and was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life.

Tennis was Sue’s preferred hobby but she “tried” to like golfing with Rick. Sailing on Leech Lake and spending time with friends who became family was one of her treasured memories.

Traveling was one of her favorite hobbies. Whether it be to Europe, the Bahamas, different locations in the United States, or to the family’s home in Florida. Sand Key was her favorite of all their travel destinations. Sue could walk the beach for hours looking for sea-shells, swimming or reading a good book by the ocean. She loved watching dolphins and sea turtles, laying in the sun, and the local cuisine. Sue and Rick made life-long friends in Florida. When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Minnesota watching football and seeing the leaves turn in the fall.

Sue was a devoted wife, an amazing mother, a beloved grandmother, and a true friend. She was thoughtful, caring, faith-filled, strong, determined, and always had a smile. Sue loved to watch her children and grandchildren in all of their activities. Her faith in God kept her strong during times of challenge. Sue loved dogs and her family always had at least one throughout the years. She loved to bird watch, read, watch movies, and spend time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Adeline Anderson, husband of 56 years, Rick, brother-in-law David Espeseth, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sue is survived by son Rob (Leanne), daughter Angela, grandchildren Luke, Drew, Elise and Carly Jordahl. Her sister Karen Espesth, a niece and nephews, Aunt Helen Goike, and many cousins.

Sue loved deeply and kept those whom she loved closest to her heart. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior. A private burial will take place at St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, Sue and her family requested donations be sent to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Moorhead, Minnesota.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Rob, Angie and families,
My memories of Sue are full of her smile and laugh. She always had that smile that made me and everyone feel her warmth. I send you all my sympathy and hope that all your memories will hold you tight as you go through this time of great loss.
    You are in my prayers-
Dana Sue (Susie Buchholz) and Bruce Busch

  2. Greg and Mary Lou Dahms says:

I met Sue when we were both freshmen at the College of Saint Catherine, now Saint Catherine’s University. We reconnected later in life when our daughters, her Angie and our Katie, were classmates at Shanley High School. I don’t think I ever saw her without a smile. Angie and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother.

  3. Cynthia Caryl Baumgardner says:

Sue and I played in a tennis group every Tuesday morning for several years. We had so much fun. It was not so much about playing extremely well but just to enjoy being active and getting to know each other.
12 years ago, when my husband and I moved into the same condo building as Sue and Rick, we would see each other fairly often. Sue always had a smile and happy attitude. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She will be missed. Blessed be her memory.
