Susan Kay Korst Jensen, 65, of Fargo, passed away Friday, May 1st, 2015 at home.   Susan way born on October 13, 1949 in Fargo, ND to Robert and Josephine (Lacher) Korst. She graduated from North High School in Fargo and continued her love for education and knowledge while attending and earning degrees at Valley City State University, Minnesota School of Business, Moorhead State University and Georgetown University. After obtaining a degrees in Accounting, Susan began her professional career teaching at Interstate Business College in Fargo and after several years purchased the school, allowing her to continue to share her passion for education with others.   Susan married Gary Jensen in 1969 at Cathedral of St. Mary’s in Fargo, ND.  She and Gary raised two children: Sam and Sunny.   Susan had a devotion for helping other people.  She lent her time and generosity to many organizations and individuals over the years including Toys for Tots, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Shanley High School.  Growing up on the receiving end of charity, she sought out ways to give back.   She was known for putting together Thanksgiving dinner baskets, and delivering Christmas trees and presents to needy families.   Most important to Susan was her family, who she was so proud of and loved deeply.  Each summer she hosted Camp Susan, bringing together her children, nieces, nephews and special friends for a week of immeasurable fun at her Lake Ida cabin.  Perhaps her biggest treasures were her grandchildren, or her little chickadees, as she called them.  She was never without a few suckers in her pocket just for them.   “Nana Sue” is survived by her children Sam (Jennelle) Jensen, Lake Oswego, OR, Sunny (Mike) Blankinship, Fargo, ND; 7 brothers and sisters, Robert (Fiona) Korst, Thompson, ND, Julie (Tim) Gatlin, Lynnwood, WA, Stephen (Jeanne Ann) Korst, Sioux Falls, SD, Pam Baccus, Whittier, CA; Tony (Stacy) Flood-Korst, Wausau, WI, Donna (Howard) Mikkali, Harvard, IL, Betty (Jim) Hanson, Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Beverly Wentz, 3 grandchildren, Griffin, Lumen and Zella; 11 nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Kelley, Julienne, Jacob, Joshua, David, Colin, Ryan, Aaron, Simon and Cory; and best friend, Vicki Rada.   Susan is preceded in death by her most treasured grandmother, Bregida Lacher, parents; Josephine Lauro and Robert W. Korst; brother, Rodney Wentz and sister Marlys Hexum.   Memorials may be given to Shanley High School.

  3. Julie, Bob, Steve, Pam and all of Susan’s Family. My heartfelt sympathies are with you all. I do have fond memories of Susan as we were growing up and Julie and I spent so much time with each other in High School and working at King’s Food Host. Susan was a great “big sister” and fun to be around when we got the chance. I think the last time I saw you Julie was at Susan & Gary’s cabin at the lake when our children were very little. Thoughts and prayers are with you all, as they were when I read of Rod’s passing. Thinking of you with fond memories.
