Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We are so lost without this man. Fun to talk to and full of discussion no matter what the subject. Joel really enjoyed his visit with him in the nursing home. Bringing him honey and conversation. Even if it was a couple times a month he surely enjoyed the company. His hugs will also be missed. We are so sorry for your loss. Now Rita and Terry are hand and hand walking to who knows where. Love you all and again sorry for your loss.

  2. My husband and I & all of our Az family at Silveridge Rv Resort send our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time! We all treasure r memories with both of them. Many hrs hiking the beautiful mt’s and many fun happy hours. They were both very special friends. We were all shocked when we heard of Rita’s passing. I can picture them hiking the highest peaks. Your family was BLESSED.

  3. Mr Soine was my favorite principal, I graduated from Lincoln in 1977. My favorite memory was when I was in 10th grade, my high school boyfriend broke up with me and I had skipped a class. Mr Soine saw me in the hallway and said “Ms Stromlund, you missed your last class, why?” So I told him why. I will never forget what he told me and to this day I still follow his advice… he said “never allow a man to make you feel like this, that you skip a class or miss out on anything in life. You are in control”. Thank you Mr Soine for being the best at what you did and for leaving that lifelong advice with me… over 48 years later.

  4. Jessica, Wade and Lucas,
I am so sorry to hear of your Dads passing. And your Moms awhile back. I used to babysit you 3 when you were really very young. I enjoyed it and was so very fond of your parents! They adored you so much!
Your Dad was the principal of Lincoln High School in TRF, MN when I was a student. We never knew if he was serious or kidding at times!
I feel lucky to have known him. You all have my deepest sympathy.

  5. Sending condolences to the Soine family. I attended Lincoln High and had the pleasure of “Mr Soine” as the Principal. Fond memories for sure

  11. To Terry’s Family: So sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. I met Terry when I was at Lincoln High School. When I moved back to TRF in 1990, I joined Rotary International and got to know both Terry & Rita much better. He was always fun to be around, and he was a very dedicated educator and promoter of people being involved in community service. Our thoughts & prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

  12. Luke was a classmate of Rita’s and I had the pleasure of getting to know them some 20+ years ago. I instantly felt like I had known them all of my life. Such fun and WONDERFUL memories.
Jessica, Wade and Lucas, we also feel your loss. DARLU

  13. Our prayers of love and peace are sent to your entire family as you grieve Terry. We loved him and Rita very much. —The Bestges

  14. Terry’s wife Rita was my classmate and the two of them could not have been more precious friends. Terry always seemed to have a way of making us want to know more about him and his adventures through life. We will surely mis those memorable times.

  15. A fond farewell to Terry, half of a truly goofy couple with hearts of gold. God bless their collective memory and hold their children extra tight during this sad sad time. As was I, Rita was part of the Grafton, ND, Class of 1960 family that grew up together; Terry was a welcome adopted brother. I’m adding a couple of photos taken at the Mayville, ND home 4 days before your dad died.

  16. Very sorry to hear this and my heart goes out to Rita and the whole family. I have many fond childhood memories of being with Terry, Uncle Claude, Aunt Adele, and all my wonderful Soine cousins in Wild Rose; I treasure those times.
    With love, Rene

  17. I am sorry to hear of Mr. Soine’s passing. I have no idea how I got on his radar, but he knew me before I knew who he was and before I got to high school. He was the first administrator that took me seriously when I advocated to be included in advanced classes… coming from St. Bernard’s, we were at a disadvantage and no amount of advocacy on my own behalf could break through. Mr. Soine, however, seemed to adore me (no idea why and again, no idea how he knew who I was) and always looked out for me, ensuring I had every advanced opportunity possible. It was great to feel noticed and his kindness and efforts allowed me to really thrive. I will never forget him. Rest in peace and my deepest condolences to his family.

  18. Soiney family- so very sorry to hear about Terry’s and Rita’s death. I knew them from Highschool and then personally through Bob Nelson. And Wade, I am Chad Carpenters sister. May their memory be blessed. They were an awesome, lovely couple and now together again. Lean on each other now ,Remember the good times.I send comforting thoughts and prayers.

  19. Jess, Lucas, Wade:
I’m so sorry to hear and my condolences. Wonderful parents, and a crazy couple. I will miss them. Best wishes for you kids.

  20. I am so sorry to hear about Terry’s passing, He was 1 of the nicest men I had ever met as well as being principle of Lincoln when I graduated in 1977.
He was strict but kind and he helped me out of many difficult situations with some kids at school.
I would see him occasionally when he came up to the lake of the woods. But that was back in the 90’s
I lost touch with where he went after he left the river falls area and I was hoping to connect with him again but I never managed to find him.
Blessed be his memory, and my sympathies to all of the family.
Now Terry and Rita are finally together again and forever!

    Rest in peace “Chopper”

  21. Our condolences to Terry’s family. Just learned of his passing yesterday. He was a great person and a true friend. We looked forward to his visits to our Wildrose Nursery along with Rita every summer. He was my brother Don’s best friend and he became a friend to us as well. He touched the lives of so many people in education and left a great legacy. Now, Terry and Rita are running together in the great beyond. RIP friend!

  23. I am sorry for your loss . I was a 1977 graduate where I met Terry . Although I never told him , he was an inspiration to me . He was a very fair and wise man who really cared about his students . Thankyou Mr Soine !

  24. I’m so sorry to hear of Mr Soine’s passing. I have such fond memories of him from high school. He was always caring and concerned for his students and that came through in all my interactions with him. I pray for comfort for all his family.

  25. So very sorry for the loss of your Dad. He and Rita are hand in hand once again! My deepest condolences go out to you all.

  26. I knew Rita since she had the misfortune of being “a country kid” and ended up at Chase Grade School for a few years. Rita was crazy and so much fun. One never knew what was coming. When she teamed up with Terry, we all knew it was a perfect match. They loved, honored, and respected each other and their goodness just surrounded them and easily spread to those whom they touched. I have a number of “Rita Stories, but one stands out: A few winters ago I had been widowed and decided to spend most of the winter in Arizona. I had just moved in when to my surprise, Rita showed up with a big hug and a huge welcome. I did not know I had picked Rita’s Park in which to winter. Somehow I knew it would be a good winter. And it was.
