Thomas Bird

Thomas Lloyd Bird, aka “T. Bird”, age 74, passed away at Sanford Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026.

Thomas was born September 4, 1951, at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND, to Donna and Lloyd Bird. He helped his family raise Morgan horses for showing. He met his soul mate, Sharon Ann Fettig, on a blind date. They were married for 49 years and 72 days and were the proud parents of one daughter, Dawn Marie.

T. Bird was a very strong man who served proudly in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He spent years on the road driving semi and bus (Grey Hound, SCR, Red River Trails) to provide well for his family. He loved traveling and seeing new places. At times, he would take his wife and daughter to share his adventures. He also worked 11 years with the great people at Quality Meats. His last job was driving truck for his farmer friend, Kevin Nelson.

T. Bird is survived by his daughter, Dawn Marie Bird; grandchildren MaryDawn Christensen (Edwin Juarez) and Evan Christensen; great-granddaughter Mariana, all of West Fargo and brother Jerry Bird of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, little sister and his loving wife, Sharon.

The family would like to thank Roger Maris Cancer Center for their great care of Thomas during his cancer journey, family friend Julie and Sanford ER as well as his friends at the West Fargo High Rise for fun times playing pinochle and whist!

A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Anthony’s Church in Fargo, ND. If friends and family wish to honor T. Bird’s memory, memorial gifts may be sent directly to the family at 4303 9th Ave. Circle South, #101, Fargo, ND 58103
