Thomas Metzger

Thomas Lyle Metzger, 67, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at home in the loving arms of his wife Zona and friend Heidi.
Tom, the son of Raymond Henry and Ivy Marie (Thompson) Metzger, was born April 16, 1936 on the family farm in Davison County, South Dakota. He graduated from High School in Mount Vernon, South Dakota. The family moved to Mitchell, South Dakota and Tom worked various jobs there until entering the army. He was stationed in Europe. Upon returning he worked with his dad and learned the carpentry trade with Pietz General Contracting in Mitchell, South Dakota. He moved to Fargo and married Zona Jones on April 12, 1976. He became a partner in Hammer and Nail Contracting, which later became Rebarchek Construction, Inc. He retired in 1998.
He enjoyed spending time at the summer cottage on Turtle Lake in Minnesota. In the past, he took pleasure in hunting and fishing and always found time to watch Vikings football. He also enjoyed card games of any kind. He was a long term member of the Fargo Moose Lodge. Tom touched the lives of many people in his special way. He was always willing to help out and never expected anything in return.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew him best. Survivors include his wife, Zona; mother, Ivy Lord, Bismarck, ND; brother, Ray Metzger, Denver, CO; sister, Beverly Grebner, Bismarck, ND; two sons, Dan, Colorado, and Mark, Tennessee. He is also survived by his little buddy, Mikie?his special dog.
He was preceeded in death by his father, Raymond Henry Metzger; sister, Helen Kent; two brothers-in-law, Bob Grebner and Dennis Kent; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Metzger.
Memorial Service: Saturday, December 6, 5:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
Visitation: One hour prior to service.
Burial will take place at the Servicemen?s Memorial Cemetery, Mitchell, South Dakota at a later date.
