Timothy John Fornes, age 52, has passed away.
He was born in Fargo, ND to John and Mary Fornes on May 1, 1973. He attended Holy Spirit Elementary School and Shanley High School where he started his faith journey that continued until his death.
He is remembered for the love he had for his family, particularly his nieces and nephew and his golden retrievers, Dodger and Murphy that passed before him. He was happiest spending simple moments with family, being with friends at the lake, cooking for everyone, and talking sports, especially the Dodgers. He was a good man with a tender heart.
He is survived by his mother, Mary, his sisters Ann (Jeff) Van Wie, Susan (Mitch) Hanson, his nieces and nephew – Mackenzie and Madison Hanson and Andrew and Lauren Van Wie. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John, and his grandparents, John and Margaret Fornes as well as Robert and Florence Monilaws.

Mary and family. Disbelief and numbness is how we all feel at the passing of Tim. His smile and always a joke or something witty to say will never be forgotten . May he be at peace with John. Mary – You and John were more like a brother and sister to the Kelly family. Our gatherings were extra special because you were there. Mary your calls and cards while Vonnie was ill was so appreciated. You will never know how uplifting it was when I was down. Our thanks to you for being there always for everybody ❤️ and now we will be there for you. Love you very much.
We had fun shopping for bargains at garage sales and thrift stores and would get so excited when we found a good deal. Tim was also a great cook and truly enjoyed making meals.
He loved his dogs and made friends easily with everyone he met. He was always laughing and smiling when he greeted you and was known for his big hugs.
Love to you, Tim.”
Tim, You had a very kind soul and you touched many people with your stories, hospitality and kindness in such a short time. May you be reunited with your heavenly father, your father John as well as Bella, Dodger and Murphy by your side.
Our deepest sympathy to Mary and family. So shocked to see of Tim’s passing such a young person.
Now Tim is reunited with his Dad.
Thinking of you all at this time.
With Love, Wes and Vivian
We met Tim on the lake and he was so friendly and ready to cook for you and share a meal. He was an excellent cook and always ready to have fun. Always willing to help a friend in need.
We so enjoyed his friendship and we will miss him terribly..
Tim and I connected over many things, but what stands out most to me now is our shared faith in Christ. He had a deep understanding of the gospel and carried a wisdom about it that was both thoughtful and sincere. We often bonded over my background in ministry, and those conversations meant a lot to me.
Tim had a way of making everyone feel valued and seen. I’ll never forget the way he would walk into the call center each day, greet everyone who was there, set his things down, and then immediately go make himself a cup of coffee at 5 p.m.—which always made me laugh.
As his supervisor, I often had to remind Tim to keep the noise level down on the floor. But when he wasn’t there, we realized just how much we missed it—the laughter, the conversations, the energy he brought with him. Tim carried an incredible compassion for the people around him.
One thing I’ll always cherish is how he made a point to find something each day that would make me laugh—because he loved hearing me snort when I did.
I’m deeply grateful to have known Tim, to have worked alongside him, and to have shared in those everyday moments that now mean so much. He was truly special, and his life clearly touched so many people during his time at FirstLink and beyond.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. His life was full of love, and his presence will be deeply missed
I have been reminiscing about my younger years with Tim. It’s probably been over 30 years since I have last seen him. Feels like yesterday we wee playing T-Ball at Mickelson Park, throwing doubles play like we were in the pro’s or hanging out watching his dad coach our sisters through many fast pitch softball games. My heart is saddened to hear the news passing. Mary, Ann, Susan… my condolences and love to you all. I am sorry I cannot be there in person, but my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Rest in peace – old friend!
Love to you all from the Cortese Family
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Please know I’m thinking of you. Hugs and 🙏🙏s 🫶
Tim (“Neighbor Tim” to my family) was a one-of-a-kind neighbor with a big heart. He was always dropping off food with a text saying “grab it before Dodger does,” and he made sure our son had a last special moment with Dodger.
He was also a great friend to my husband—countless nights spent around the fire, a drink in one hand, a cigar in the other, solving the world’s problems. We’ll always remember the laughs, late-night talks, rib recipe swaps, stock talks, and shoveling the snow in flip-flop sandals and shorts!
We are so sorry for all of your loss.
Mary, Ann, Susan & families ,
My sincere sympathies are with all of you at this time of sadness. Tim was a kind friend. We had a great visit last summer. It was fun to catch up with him. Know you are all in my thoughts and prayers – you are all dear friends and so glad we grew up together. Please let me know if you need anything.
Sincerely
Sandra Jaeger
My sincerest condolences and sympathies to Tim’s family. I had the honor of coaching Tim in American Legion baseball for Post 2. Tim was a tremendous competitor who worked hard every day. Most importantly he was a great teammate. RIP Tim. God bless. Coach Slick
Thinking and praying for you all. I just learned of Tim’s passing the day of his memorial service. I was on a trip and sad that I couldn’t attend the service and share some stories. My heart is broken for all of you. I saw Mary a few weeks ago and told her I would love to see Tim and catch up with him again. I will always remember Tim for fun band trips, his love for his Dodgers, and his smile. His classmates loved him. He will be missed.
