Todd R. Kumm

After a courageous battle with cancer, Todd Robert Kumm, 64, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by family at his favorite place, the family lake home.

A celebration of life will be held at the Fargo Country Club on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A blessing and brief remembrance will be shared at 4 p.m., followed by shared stories and memories of Todd. The remainder of the event will be an open house.

Todd, the fifth of six children, was born to Vincent and Doris (Lebert) Kumm on July 10, 1961, in Watertown, SD, and lived his childhood in Watertown. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1979, after which he attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He graduated in 1983 with bachelor’s degrees in accounting and political science.

Todd dedicated his professional life to Dakota Supply Group (DSG), where he began his tenure as Operations Manager before becoming Chief Financial Officer followed by serving eleven impactful years as CEO. Beyond his work at DSG, he generously devoted countless hours to serving on numerous boards, including but not limited to IDEA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Fargo Glass & Paint, Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GFMEDC), United Electric Supply, Hospice of the Red River Valley, now known as HIA Hospice, and D&M Industries. Through his professional leadership and community involvement, he made a lasting impact on the organizations he served and the people who worked alongside him.

He found his greatest happiness in the people and pastimes he loved most. He was a proud dad to eight children and the best Papa to thirteen grandchildren, who were always his top priority, and he took a genuine interest in each of them. You could often find Todd golfing or traveling with his wife, Ann, and their friends, making memories along the way. As a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Minnesota Twins, he followed every season closely. He also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and spending time at his favorite place, Pelican Lake, where, alongside Ann, they built their dream cabin, a place that became a gathering spot for the family and friends he cherished most.

Todd married Nancy on August 14, 1981, at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin, North Dakota. Together they raised three children: Katrina, Allison, and Mallory. During those years, he enjoyed playing basketball in a recreational league with friends and was actively involved in his children’s lives. He especially loved supporting them in sports, particularly basketball, volleyball, and softball.

In 2004, Todd met Ann, who became his beloved wife. They married on March 15, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota, blending their families into one. Todd embraced his role in the lives of Michael, Hannah, Katie, and Chelsey, taking pride in supporting their activities, especially basketball, soccer, and hockey. After becoming empty nesters for three months, Kim joined the bunch in 2012, completing their family.

Todd is survived by his wife, Ann; his children: Katrina Kumm (Eileen Kelly) of Minneapolis, MN, Allison (Casey) Bergquist of Hawley, MN, and Mallory Kumm of Minneapolis, MN; Michael Sitzmann of Tappen, ND, Hannah (Sawyer) Smith of Bismarck, ND, Katie (Ben) LeCompte of Vermillion, SD, Chelsey (Caitlin) Sitzmann of Farmington, MN, and Kim (Parker) Salentine of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Evelyn Jain, Francis, Grady, Scottie, Gio, Rylynn, Benji, Azat, Brooks, Palmer, Banks, Harper, and Finnick; his former wife, Nancy Nixon; his sisters, Kathy (Gene) Bierscheid and Deb (Larry) Lutz; his brothers, Kelly (Judy) Kumm and Marty (Linda) Kumm; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Doris Kumm; his sister, Roxanne Kerkvliet; his parents-in-law, Gary and Myrtis Clark, Maynard and Jean Helgaas, and Julie Helgaas, and his nephew, Philip Lutz.
