Verna G. Lee

Verna passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Sandford Hospice House in Fargo, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 85.

Verna G. Lee was born on September 23, 1938, the daughter of Severin and Marie Opal (Wiens) Ferestad in Neche, ND. She grew up in the Devils Lake area and received her education, graduating from Devils Lake High School in 1956. Verna worked at the Highway Department in Devils Lake where she met Roger.

Verna was united in marriage to Roger Lee on July 4, 1963, in Devils Lake, ND. They made their home in Devils Lake, Grand Forks, and Valley City where they raised their family.

Verna and Roger retired and moved to Fargo 17 years ago where they lived the remainder of their lives.

Verna loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and all the pets. Throughout the years, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing games, and shopping. Verna loved Christmas and would prepare for Christmas year-round.

Verna is survived by her children – Paul (Dorene) Lee of Bismarck, ND; Barbara Lee of Fargo, ND; Sarah (Darin) Raguse of Nashua, MN; and Susan (John) Elwell of Henderson, NV; her grandchildren – James Malling, Kadin Raguse, Cobin Raguse, Wyatt Raguse, Devin Elwell, and Ella Elwell. Also, surviving are several nieces, nephews, and many other very dear relatives.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years Roger Lee (2023), and her 4 brothers Kermit, Earl, Marvin, and Gary Ferestad.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 10 am. Burial will follow at the Fargo National Cemetery.
