Vernon Gisvold

Vernon Gisvold, 72, Grandin, North Dakota, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo.
Vernon was born in Grandin to Ralph and Lila Kraby Gisvold on February 20, 1931. He was baptized at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. He attended school in Grandin and graduated from High School in 1948. Vernon then attended the North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo until joining the Army in 1952. Vernon married Kathleen Neilan in 1959. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas until being transferred to Korea where he served during the Korean Conflict until being discharged in 1954. After leaving the Army he moved to the Twin Cities where he worked for the Railroad. Vernon began work with the DeLuxe Check Company in Minneapolis in1971 and worked there until his retirement in 1993. After retiring he returned to Grandin to his parents? home. He had been working at the Grandin Stop n Shop until becoming ill.
He is survived by his two brothers, Robert Gisvold, Fargo, ND, and Kenneth Gisvold, Kokomo, Indiana; two sisters, Donna (Charles) Nelson, and Bonneita Jacobson, both of Hillsboro, ND; three step children; 11 nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lila.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro and there will be a Prayer Service at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday in the Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro, ND.
