Vivian J. (Lachowitzer) Schlafer, 83, passed away suddenly at her home, in Fargo, ND on January 14, 2020. She was born at home (her Grandmother delivered her) in Ottertail Co. MN, to Lilly (Soland) and Walter Lachowitzer. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1954. She went to beauty school and became a cosmetologist, then received a degree from business school and was a Bookkeeper the rest of her career. She was always a conscientious, hard worker. She married Heinz Pineas in 1974 and gave birth to a daughter, Erica. They divorced in 1977. She was married to Harwood Schlafer from 1981 until 1984. Vivian was an active member of Fargo First Assembly of God Church until her passing. She was also an active supporter of the New Life Center and it’s Auxiliary. She was a dedicated bowler and on a league team for many years. She loved all sports and participated in many of them. She was a zealous Twins fan and enjoyed playing ball herself. In addition, she was an avid game player and cherished the games of cribbage with her sister. She truly enjoyed all games and made you work to win. Her love of dancing was well known and she even had a dance routine to exercise to. She loved Jesus and is dancing with the angels for Him in heaven now. She was a devoted Mom and Grandma and didn’t miss an opportunity to spend time with her family. She was also a loving and faithful sister. She enjoyed being with her cousins and friends and will be missed by so many. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Roy Lachowitzer and Glen Lachowitzer , sister Darlene Gamble and brother-in-law Charles Clauson. She is survived by daughter Erica (David) Muir, Fargo, ND. Grandchildren: Tiffany (Craig) Wheeler, St. Ignatius, MT, Dustin Malvin, Lilly Malvin and Kirah Muir, Fargo, ND. Great Grandchildren: Braxton, Amberly and Silas Wheeler and Luna Muir. Sisters: Linda (Wayne) Augustus, Pelican Rapids, MN and Pamela (John) Kruse, Fargo, ND. Brother-in-law Fred Gamble, Brooklyn Park, MN and Sisters-in-law Doris Lachowitzer, Pelican Rapids, MN and Jessie Lachowitzer, Abilene, TX. She also left many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND with a visitation one hour prior.
