Prayer Service:

Wally died on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at St. Catherine’s South (Villa Maria), in Fargo, at the age of 91.

Wallace “Wally” Lindgren was born on February 13, 1931, the son of V.E. “Manny” and Mary (Harveland) Lindgren on a farm near Blabon, ND. The family moved to Grandin, ND when he was two years old. He attended school in Grandin, and he was so proud to be chosen as a delegate to the Junior Red Cross Convention which was in San Francisco! This was quite an adventure to a young man who had never been very far from Home! He graduated as Valedictorian in his class. On June 12, 1954, he married Mildred “Milly” Sund in the St. Petri Church at Pickert, ND. They were married for 64 loving years. They made their home at a farm close to Gardner, ND. He was highly involved with his community as a volunteer fireman and by serving on various committees.

His faith was the most important part of his life. He served on the Nora Church Council many times, and he was always willing to serve and encourage anyone who needed a hand. At one time, long after they didn’t have any child to enroll, he and Milly took over and ran the Sunday School Program at Nora.

He is survived by his daughter, Sonja (Roger) Meline; his grandchildren – Jason (Jen) Eli, Gina Eli, Joshua (Diana) Eli, Sheryl (Jerry) Krauth, James (Heidi) Meline, along with great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and Frieda Tomito – his African daughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Milly; his brother, Willy; and his grandson-in-law, Steven McCowen.
