Walter Zitzow
August 13, 1931 ~ January 14, 2018
Walter Arthur Zitzow died on January 14, 2018 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND with his wife by his side. Walter was born on August 13, 1931 to William (Bill) and Frieda (Thom) Zitzow at Vergas, MN. He attended school and graduated from Perham High School. He had six brothers and one sister and grew to manhood working with his dad and brothers. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
He married the love of his life, Ethelyn Ann Pederson on October 23, 1955. They were blessed with three children: Cheryl, Chad, and Todd. They made their home in Fargo while he worked at Eide Construction and then started his own business, Zitzow Construction with his son, Chad. He was a man of nature. He loved being outside and enjoying nature. He especially enjoyed being at the cabin on West McDonald Lake. We could find him at the lake doing his loon call!!! His greatest joy was being with his family and friends and sharing in their lives. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served as elder for many years.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Ethelyn Ann Zitzow; three children, Cheryl (Frank) Schindler of Barnesville, MN; Chad (Diane) Zitzow of Moorhead, MN; Todd Zitzow of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Cristy (Justin) Brosowske of Moorhead, MN; Cari (Matthew) Burnett of Alberta, MN; Cody (Caitlin) Zitzow of Frazee, MN; Mary Schindler of Fargo, ND: six great grandchildren, Dylan, Madison Selzler and Armour Brosowske and Jacoby, Jamis and Lana Burnett; two brothers, Wilmar (Marie) Zitzow; Elmer (Pat) Zitzow, sister-in-law Elvie Zitzow, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our Sympathy to Ethelyn and Family. I will always remember Walt and how happy he was, especially at the cabin. May God be with you all. ✝️💜🙏

So sorry to hear of Walts death. We always enjoyed seeing you at the lake and we know how much you and him loved being there. It will be different now.
We are in TX now and so want to give you/family our condolences. Talked to Cheryl this morning.
Again, so sorry. I told Beth about it too. She will miss you also.
Ethelyn, Cody, Chad & Cheryl and families..
May God give you peace at this difficult time. Know that we hold you in our thoughts and prayers and share your grief.
Love, Bert & Kim Borah
My prayers are with the entire family at this time. Walt and Ethelyn were one of the first to come and visit us in Washington after our move here and we so enjoyed showing them around. He will be missed.
Ethelyn and family,
Our thoughts & prayers are with you. When I was young, I wanted to be like you (find a prince). You guys were one of my fairy tale dreams. Well, for 50 years I’ve had a prince but he doesn’t dance. You are so lucky to have a beautiful family to help you. Thankful that Judy updated me.
