Wayne Roesler
December 6, 1938 ~ December 23, 2022
Wayne’s service will be livestreamed below at 2 pm, Friday, December 30th
Wayne Lee Roesler, 84, of Fargo, ND, and formerly Leonard, ND, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 23, 2022, at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings Care Center.
Wayne was born on December 6, 1938, in Leonard, ND to Delphin and Ada (Anderson) Roesler. He was raised on the family farm, and went to school in Leonard, graduating in 1957. Wayne was a lifelong member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Leonard, as well as a lifelong farmer. Over the years, Wayne farmed soybeans, corn, wheat, and sunflowers, in addition to raising cattle. After retirement, Wayne turned his love of farming into a love of gardening. The yield he returned from his garden was abundant – it was not unusual to receive bags full of tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, peppers, or potatoes from him come Fall.
Wayne married Nola Bulson on August 23, 1974. He became a step-father to Cris, and later, Wayne and Nola welcomed Amber, Sara, and Justin. Wayne was proud of his children, especially his Attorney, Justin. He also never met a lawyer joke he didn’t like, be it good or bad.
And speaking of jokes, it can’t go without saying that Wayne loved a good (or bad) joke or story. He could make friends wherever he went, and his friendships were very important to him. Small talk, stories, and jokes were Wayne’s “love language” and something he greatly valued and enjoyed.
However, nothing brought Wayne more pride and joy than being a Grandfather to his 4 Grandchildren – Nolan, Julian, Abram, and Eden. Many of Wayne’s days were filled with thinking about things he wanted them to see or do in their years to come, with many of those being things he didn’t get the chance to do himself.
In retirement, Wayne also enjoyed traveling. He and Nola traveled to many memorable places, including a number of National Parks, Presidential Libraries, and other notable sites. Among his favorites were Route 66, Zion National Park, and Hawaii. Wayne visited Alaska several times, and treasured the opportunity he had to share a trip fishing in Alaska with his grandsons, Nolan and Abram.
Wayne was also a passionate New York Yankees fan. He and Nola had memorable trips to see the Yankees play in New York City at Yankee Stadium, and during baseball season, day to day activities navigated around Yankees games. Wayne would like to remind you that the Yankees have won 27 World Series titles and 40 American League Pennants. To quote his favorite t-shirt, “Got rings?”
Wayne is survived by his wife, Nola, Fargo, ND; children, Cris (Mary), Eugene, OR; Amber, Vancouver, WA; Sara, Moorhead, MN; and Justin, Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren: Nolan, Abram, & Eden Durick, and Julian Roesler-Fields. Wayne is further survived by his brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Roesler, Lyle Roesler, Gene Roesler, Gary (Chris) Roesler, Kent (Deb) Roesler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Delphin and Ada Roesler, as well as his sister, LaVonne Schossow.
