Being an adventurous and dedicated individual, Wayne graduated from Mayville High School in 1964 and went on to attend Mayville State University, where he earned a degree in Physical Science and Education. He met the love of his life, Carla Beyer, while teaching in Minneapolis, and they happily tied the knot on December 27, 1969.
After their marriage, Wayne pursued further education by obtaining his master’s degree, and he even joined the US Navy’s Pilot Program. Throughout his life, Wayne served in the North Dakota National Guard and embarked on various professional endeavors. He transitioned into farming before relocating to Fargo, where he worked tirelessly for BNSF Railroad for over 20 years, finally retiring in 2011.
Wayne had a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature and committed much of his time to his passion for amateur geology. As a faithful fan, he cheered for both the Vikings and NDSU Bison. Additionally, Wayne enjoyed the thrill of hunting and immersed himself in reading the Bible, finding solace and guidance in his faith. He was an active member of Grace Covenant Church and embraced the community connections he made during his time in Gold Canyon, AZ.
Above all else, Wayne cherished his family and found joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Their outings together were some of his favorite moments, creating lasting memories for them all.
Wayne is survived by his loving children, Jody (Brent) Keene, residing in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and Michael (Emily) Viseth of Fargo. He leaves behind the precious legacy of his grandchildren, Branden Carl, Kieran Carl, Ethan Halvorson, Carli Blank, Kendra Blank, Eleanor Viseth, and Aiden Viseth. This man was a huge part of my childhood and will be missed greatly. His laugh always brought me joy. Rest easy Wayne. ❤️
I switched a lot of box cars with Wayne during our early days on the railroad.
Then, in the early ’90s, we signed up for so called mercenary work in Gillette, WY. When they released us to come home, Wayne lost in a two to one vote over whether we would swing through Deadwood on our way back. I and the other guy went on a tear. The other guy went to the hotel and to bed. I, being by far the youngest, kept on a going, winning a bunch of money and putting away way too many free drinks. As I was finally walking out Saloon Number 10 to call it a night, I saw Wayne sitting at a table by himself and sipping on a coke. He had been tailing me for my safety even though he never wanted to be in Deadwood in the first place. The next day, he then had to drive us home, as the other guy who owned the car had a banging headache from the night before. RIP my friend Wayne.
My deepest condolences to the Viseth Family! Wayne graduated from MHS with me. Class of 1964. Enjoyed visiting with him these last two years after he returned to Fargo! He loved going for rides in my Classic Mustang GT Convertible. We would drag Broadway with the radio a blasting, acting like teenagers. ….. definitely NOT acting our age!… More like a Bevous & Butthead… UFFDA. Yet, just having a lot of fun! RIP: For My Friend Wayne!
Sending all the Viseth family our love and prayers. He was always fun to visit with. This large family always knew how to have fun and enjoy one another. He will be missed by you all. Heaven has another bright star! God Bless the memory of Wayne.
Our Deepest Condolaces !
Gary and I have so many great memories from when you moved to Gold Canyon and were our neighbor. Rest In Peace dear Brother. Carol & Gary
My deepest sympathy to Michael and Jody and the Viseth family. My prayers are with you all. May you all find peace and comfort knowing he is with our Lord and Savior.
I know with your faith you have gone to a higher calling. You left us with great memories and thoughts. I known you family misses you but can now share many great thoughts. I could not attend living in Reno NV but Bill and Dee called to remember the good friend. Lord do not go for a ride in a Buick with Wayne that’s where I learned to pray. Love Jon & Patt
