Rio Rancho New MexicoI thought of Wiley today as I have often done through out the years and I checked on line to find that he passed away in June.
Wiley had a tremendous influence on me when attended Minot State University (1971-73). His coaching style and his personal touch is something I tried to pass on to my student athletes over the years when I coached cross country and track in North Dakota
, Montana and Arizona. My thoughts are with the Wilson family and your loss.
Best wishes.

Hi Charmayne:
So sorry to hear about your Dad. We just lost Jeff’s dad to cancer in February, so I have somewhat of an idea as to what you’re going through. Even though I didn’t really know your dad, I know he was very well-liked and will be greatly missed. Hope you are doing as well as can be expected and that each day gets easier. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers.

Mansfield TXThe stories that we all have based upon the influences of coach Wilson in our lives would fill a 10 volume set. And that is just for Carpio. I am sure beyond doubt that many of us can source a substantial portion of who we are today to lessons learned on his watch.
Gone but never absent in the lives of us all. We salute you Coach.

My best wished to his family!!
Wiley did so much for me when I took over for him at Minot State back in 1997. Wiley and Hermelle made me feel at home in Minot!

Mr. Wilson was an dedicated, excellent teacher and successful coach at Carpio High who brought out the best in his students and athletes. He was an excellent role model and quiet leader who often taught life lessons. I became a business teacher because of my experiences in his classrooms and often used what I had learned during his classes while teaching my own. The world needs more dedicated teachers and coaches like him. He will be missed!!!
May the fond memories you have of happy times with Wiley sustain you during these difficult times and in the days to come. Deepest sympathy to you and your family, Hermelle. God Bless.

Haven’t seen you guys for some time except Jack & Wiley . Talk about the good times we had at Strawberry Lake. The good food, the stories we all know. Like nobody sleeps tonight and Wiley crawing away at 10:00 AM the next morning thinking he could sneek away and go to bed!! He was such a Guy!!. The races he had with Carrie & how he loved the girls he coached in track. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and athletics Boys included!! I often think of the coaches week-end at strawberry lake and all the fun we had nobody can take that away from us. I am sure Wiley is laughing in heaven with all of us thinking about the good times. Your are in our thoughts & prayers. Put your trust in the Lord and He will take care of you all.
Love you!!

Virginia City NevadaWhat a great coach, a real father figure to me. A great mentor and motivator. I think of him often with his advice on life and understanding of others. My best memories of Wiley are those coach to athlete talks before practice, he helped mold my life. What an education. I have used his advice more than once rasing “my boys”. Wiley, you will be missed.

Dear Wilson Family,
I will dearly miss Coach. He was my guide and mentor throughout my track and cross country seasons at MSU (1994-1997). I’ll always remember our “toilet bowl” runs throughout Minot and wondering where Coach would be parked so we could pick up the pace!
I’ll also remember a particular workout where Lois Fortier, Julie Scheflo, and I decided to veer off our assigned run. Coach was so worried, just like a father would have been. Needless to say, we never swayed off track again.
I’m so humbled to say that I knew Coach Wilson. He will not be forgotten.
I have sent a donation to Coach’s MSU Track Scholarship. May this fund help many young people achieve their athletic dreams.
Much love and blessings to your family,
Paula Reierson-Nett

Not only was “Coach” a good friend, but I had the privilege of refereeing basketball for him as a coach, and with him as a partner for several years. We shared a few “decks of cards” and an occasional “brew” now & then. Great memories that I will never forget.
Hermelle, Charmayne, Jack & Families, my thoughts & prayers are with you during this time of sorrow & grief. He will be missed by us all. Take care.
