William (Bill) F. Ratzlaff

William (Bill) F. Ratzlaff, 81, Fargo, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo. William was born on August 15, 1926 to Fred and Lena Rosenkranz Ratzlaff at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, North Dakota. He grew up and attended school there. Bill served in the Army from 1946 to 1947. He returned to Valley City after leaving the Army and began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked for 35 ? years. William (Bill) Ratzlaff married Betty J. Falvey on June 28, 1951 in Valley City, ND. They lived in Valley City until 1953 when they were transferred to Grand Forks where they lived until coming to Fargo in 1981. Bill retired in October of 1982. Bill loved to volunteer his time and was there to start the Santa Claus program supported by the telephone pioneers at St. Luke?s/Meritcare Hospital. He also helped with Meals on Wheels and with many activities including ushering at St. Mary?s Cathedral. Bill was a member of the American Legion, D.A.V., and the Valley City, ND Eagles Club.
