William “Bill” John Miller passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo surrounded by family.
Bill was born on November 27, 1953, to the late Richard and Bona Dea Miller in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill had a love of hunting from an early age and later a love for flying. After high school, he worked for BNSF Railway while he obtained his pilot’s license and then became a flight instructor. Early in his flying career, he was invited to Alaska by a friend for a hunting trip and his adventurous spirit fell in love with all that Alaska had to offer. In 1983, Bill and his first wife Julie Berglund moved from Fargo to “the bush” in Wiseman, AK. He trapped, fished, hunted, and flew to his heart’s content. In 1988 they moved to Fairbanks, AK where they raised their two children. He worked for the state of Alaska and pursued his dream of flying as a commercial bush pilot for Wright Air Service. In 2008, Bill married his loving wife Marjean. Together they went on many adventures as Bill shared all the things he loved about Alaska. They lived in Alaska until 2012, when they retired to Wyndmere, ND.
Bill is survived by his wife Marjean Miller; his son Michael (Anchorage, AK); his daughter Kelsey (Kyle) Mueller (Palmer, AK); his sister Laurie Kirschner (Las Cruces, NM); five grandchildren: Nora, Dax, Lola, Miles, and Rosalyn; stepdaughters Nicki (Brooks) Larson, Elanda (Randy) Rourke, and Kay Schmidt; and 5 step-grandchildren: Makenzie, Kody, Zaedyn, Rayna and Owen.
